Wondering if anyone else has tried to cancel his/her "contract" with RUE publishing company. I have received a text book and one study guide but have decided not to persue my RN. When I ordered the RUE system, I was rushed through the process - presumably so I could take advantage of their 'special'....the word 'forms' was used in place of the word 'contract'...now I'm being beaten over the head with that word. Also, I was told (over the phone) that the financing for exclsior was better with them b/c it was added to the interest-free loan I would be getting from RUE. As I said, having taken the time to read the contract, I see not only that I was lied to but it says that whatever you are told verbally has no bearing on the contract. My salesperson was an expert at deception so I am guessing that I am not the first (or the last) to be duped. If anyone has had success in negating their contract, will you please respond and let me know. Thanks.

No, you certainly aren't the first or last. I was duped long before you were. Ohhh the stories I could tell you about RUE.
To be perfectly honest, I don't think there is any way that you can get out of your contract. They are master tricksters...... they have even been known to have some of their employees posing as RUE loving students on some of the message boards. I know this because I caught a couple of them.
I'm sorry you got sucked in. I have one suggestion for you, but I will PM it to you in case those RUE spies are hanging around, and I'm sure they are.

i am not so sure with rue, but i do know that with the college network, you only have three days to cancel . i was almost duped into cw, but after the smooth saleman left my house, i read the very fine print and the very next day did exactly what was printed in very tiny letters to get my contract cancelled.
i am so sorry you got caught up too!

I Tried Getting Bmy Money Back From Tcn (the College Network) But They Too, Are Masterminds At "fibbing"!! I Had To Just Quit Paying And Suck It Up As A Lesson Learned And Mess My Credit Up Even More! Good Luck To Ya! I Wish There Were People Out There To Help Us Dupped People!

I have only read of one person who was able to cancel any of these contracts, and that person was able to do it with the help of an attorney. Every other story has been that the person got stuck and they will come after you, tooth and nail, and take you to court and ruin your credit. It is worth a visit to an attorney, but it is probably a lost cause. Sorry this happened to you; that is why there are so many warnings posted here and at the EC website. Good luck. Hope you are successful.

I have also dealt with RUE in the past and was unsuccessful at cancelling my contract. I finally stopped paying and as a result, my credit has been affected. Because of this past experience, I have been afraid to pursue similiar programs.

I was done just like many of you. Here is how I got out of it. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org). Here are things I found out. 1. a faxed document is not legally binding; 2. the claimed they are something they are not. 3. think of anything you can that they have told you incorrectly and report it along with the 2 above. I did finally get out of the contract and saved like $4000.00. Good luck
