Hi Stars

Tweety I don't think I've ever made lentil tacos

Ado glad you at least got a little rain

Quieter day yesterday. Skipped church and did the cooking for the week instead. Later drove to a historic site in the western suburbs to meet my friend N. Neither of us had been there in many years, was interesting, a fair number of volunteers and interactive exhibits. Came home and exercised and that was about it for me

Today is the last day the coworker is off, hoping it will be a calm day with no new cases. After work have exercise and a Zoom meeting with the events committee of the gay group

No rain expected today, will be cooler, in the upper 70s

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good day.

It's already 86 year. No rain in the forecast which we really need.

Having a rare 2nd cup of coffee. Did not sleep well. I had been sleeping rather well despite the stresses I've been under. But I got up early and hope to get to bed early and reverse my late night sleeping habits. The trick will be to avoid a nap.

Have my appointment to get my crown started here soon. That will be the big event of the day.

Have a good day.

I have been staying holed up in my room and ignoring the overflowing trash baskets, and doing nothing to make the room neater and nicer.

I have been staying out of the drama occurring in the rest of the house. Nutshell version of yesterdays hours-long unrest: Apparently the niece yelled at a carful of people in a parking lot for dumping all of their take-out food trash on the ground. The driver of that car got out of the car and assaulted her. When she came home she was in a genuine PTSD rage of yelling, screaming and slamming doors (having been assaulted before). The police came here to talk with her. I only know the reason behind the hullaballoo because J phoned me from the other end of the house and briefed me on the basics of the story. I don't know how it all ended up. I've been being invisible and hope the niece will be going home soon and taking her dogs with her.

Can't walk Tinker around the back of the house because of the barking that happens when the dogs get a whiff of each other. Whatever happened to my idea of having some peaceful time to indulge myself in self-care that I had been 'kept from doing' at the house of she-whose-name-shall-not-be-mentioned?

Tomorrow I go to my new doc appt at 9 AM.

Hoping to get the last piece of documentation necessary to go ahead and make an appt to get that 'New Resident' Fla driver's license. And pay through the nose for it.

Then I need to look into things going on at the library, and also to try to find some help with submitting some of my writing: // the Y, if the cost to join is not as prohibitive as it became up in NC; // and at the Hospital, like their supposedly free Balance classes.

I need a life and some like-minded friends.

Ugh. The niece who was here is going to be leaving her husband and will 'probably' be moving back in this house, along with her baby boy and the dogs. J said the house was probably going to be in a turmoil and she knows I like to be quiet....so, she has suggested we might go to Riverside and look into those senior apartments, one of which was the high rise, and the other maybe another (less huge) apartment complex.

Ugh. I knew there was a reason I didn't feel like unpacking any further or putting up my pictures on the wall.

And yet, I am stunned.

But there is no actual time-line for this.

I have no idea if there will be any place I can afford on my SS check, or that will let me have the dog and my car. Probably Riverside is not in my price range, and I don't want to be stuck in an assisted living situation, where I don't know anyone, and which is more like places I have worked when I was still working. I'm not even sure I want to stay in Florida, now that I am about to become a legal 'new citizen' here.

I'm just sitting here blinking at the wall and wondering what my options are.

So, anyway, if you pray, send up a word or two in my behalf.

Hello all!

Ugh, what a turn of events, No Stars! It sounds like chaos is about to descend upon the house. I hope another opportunity (for peaceful living) opens up for you, will keep fingers crossed and prayers going out.

Joe, I hope work is not as crazy now that the other co-worker will be back.

Tweety, good luck getting your Royal Crown.

We spent Thurs-Sunday at the Summergrass Bluegrass festival. The weather was perfect, not too humid, not too hot, and no rain. Nice breezes each day, AND the bands were great! We listened to more of the stage bands than we usually do, but also did a fair amount of jamming, about 3-5 hours every evening. Re-connected with some folks whom we only see at this festival. Dh got some yummy tri-tip over mac 'n cheese from one of the vendors, he pronounced it delicious! A friend came over for the day (she has camped in previous years, but they are selling their RV, so she was unable to camp), we had a nice lunch out and a nice visit. PLUS, we got to meet up with Greg Blake, from the Special Consensus band. They did three sets over the three days of the festival, plus the band helped with teaching at Kids' Camp, and helped lead the kids in their stage presentation on Sunday. P and I enjoyed re-connecting with Greg (nominated again this year for IBMA Vocalist of the Year; he is a two-time previous winner of that distinction! He is an awesome guitarist as well as singer, and just a nice person -- he remembered my friend's name, from a workshop we took last year!).

We were all packed up and said our good-byes by 10am, and were home by noon. We have unpacked the RV, returned the food to the house fridge, and the instruments are safely tucked away in the air-conditioned house. I have one of four loads of laundry going in the dryer, and one in the washer. We took a nap, too, once everything was unloaded. We will return the RV to the storage area tomorrow.

Wednesday dh has an appointment with an ortho hand specialist, for his many (9!) trigger fingers. They are mainly a nuisance, so he says, but they do interfere with how he plays the banjo and mandolin. We'll see what they say are treatment options; he has been putting up with them for a couple years now, and you know if he has requested the appointment, he is READY for change. He has requested I go with him, so I will be there!

Have a good evening!

Stars, so sorry to hear what might have been a peaceful situation so disrupted like that. A friend of mine, may he rest in peace, got into a lower income senior housing here but there was a waiting list. I know another acquaintenace is in the same place. I'm sure Jacksonville as subsidized housing for the "elderly" as well. Some I think accept animal companions, this place advertises low income and has a pic of a woman with a dog https://towersofjacksonville.org

Welcome back Dianah.

The crown went well. I was feeling no pain and forgot about it and crunched down on some cold raw hard almonds (a no no) and thankfully while I caused some pain that took Tylenol to take care of, it didn't seem to disrupt the crown. Duh.

Thanks for the link, Tweety! What little I read of it, it makes me feel better, and I will definitely look into it deeper. Will have to gather all the info I need in order to make an application. Seems like my life in the next little while will consist of even more searching for additional documentation. Great googlie-mooglie!

Went to my appt w/ the new doctor today. Slept so very poorly last night and was really having to push it to just get through the night. Awful, terrible, YECH! But, when I made it there on time they told me she never works on Tuesdays, and my appt is actually for tomorrow. Heavens to Murgatroid! But at least I brought home all the paperwork to fill out so I won't have to do it in the morning when I get there. There are three, no, FOUR pages of "Controlled Substance Agreement" to initial! YIKES! <It makes me glad I am not "doing" anything!! 😵‍💫

Maybe I will be able to nap a little bit this afternoon, though I am generally not a napper. And if I don't nap, maybe I will sleep better tonight? One can only hope.

Thank you NRSKaren! I'm collecting all the sites for help I can get! Helps me not feel so thrown to the wolves out here all by myself. But, I tell you what, I AM thankful for hubby's passing-on ahead of me; bless his heart, he always felt bad that he couldn't help my life become easier and better, but with how bad his alcoholism got at the end there, it would've been that much harder to find a situation for the both of us, and this kind of pushes me to find the best housing for ME! Taking care of just myself now, finally and at last. It's GOT TO get better for me now!
