Hello, when I was 19 in the year 2007 I was charged with 2 misdemeanors.
first one was petty theft
second one was possession of marijuana
I completed probation so I was never convicted, and the charges where dropped. Do you all think this will hinder me from obtaining my license, or a job? Basically I have about 1.5 years before I get into the program, and then another 2 years of schooling so it will be about 10 years since the offenses occurred. Thank you!

It seems as though you were charged but not convicted. Since you have time before applying to school, I would recommend obtaining certified copies of all relevant paperwork and have an attorney review them. That way you will be prepared to answer any questions on applications and during interviews in a straight forward manner.
I would say this will probably end up being a non issue for you.

The law is different in every state, so be careful what you read online as information provided may or may not apply to you. I would highly recommend that you contact an attorney in your state and look into having your record sealed (or expunged is another term, depending on the state). These laws are state specific, so you will need to know how the law applies in your state. Even though the charge was dismissed, it is still part of your record. Having a sealed record can provide additional legal rights and protection instead of just waiting for the 7 or 10 years to pass and hoping nothing shows up. However, as a licensing agency, the BON has a statutory exemption that allows them to view sealed records, so this will need to be addressed with them, even if you get past potential schools or employees. As a licensing agency, the BON has a statutory exemption that allows them to view sealed records. Good luck!
