Dec 9, 201411 yr Hey everyone! I've become interested in applying for MWSU for Fall 2015, but I have yet to see any threads about it so I decided to start one myself! Could anyone help me with their point system?
Dec 11, 201411 yr @lorr19 Hey! I know I am so excited about applying and hopefully getting in! I am currently at TCC right now but I am staying there for Spring 2015. I attended UTA my first year of college but had to move to TCC because of money. She told me I had 64 points but i have taken more classes and I will be finishing a class right before then deadline which should put me around 66-67 points hopefully if I added right lol. And I am sorry about you being sick and missing the deadline, that had to suck. Where did you take your Hesi Exam at? I have signed up to take it at TCC on Feb 6, but if I can take it somewhere else sooner that would be great. Also, what study guides or material did you use to study for the Hesi?
Dec 11, 201411 yr I was going to turn in my application in person, and take some additional transcript with me so Catherine could add up my points for me while I was there. So I would know what my points are when I turn in the aplication instead of having to wait and be nervous about it
Dec 11, 201411 yr @keunnamonae , ya it sucked missing the deadline, but everything happens for a reason. I have more time to prepare for fall, work to save for school and take pathophysiology at uta. I took my hesi at tcu, the last time I checked, they still have some open seats January. I used the hesi study guide book and one book mainly for maths, called Davis basic math review for nurses. I bought it on amazon. I made some cards on quizlet on some of the words that came on the hesi vocab. If u study the hesi book, really well and buy that book on amazon, you do well.
Dec 12, 201411 yr Yeah i have already started saving up my money from my job here because I dont know if I will be able to work when get into the program and if i can you never know how fast you can find a job in an unknown city. I will probably take pathophysiology over the summer maybe but Uta is so expensive for just one class. Thank you for that info i order the hesi book off amazon already, so I guess i need to get back on and order the other one. Ok was the test hard? Some other people i have talked to say it is pretty basic stuff?
Dec 12, 201411 yr You would be told probably in orientation that you can only work 15hours a week, because the program is rigorous and needs a lot of studying. Thats one of the reasons, am working hard to save a lot before school starts in the fall. Also, thats the reason taking the class in uta, so when I get into Midwestern, I would have only 2 classes to focus on first semester and probably work weekends. Plus I heard patho is really hard and am taking it at uta also, because its 3credit hours in uta and only 2credit hours at tcc. Midwestern patho is 3credit hours, didnt want to risk it taking at tcc even though its cheaper. The instructor am taking it with in uta, heard shes really good and thats what I need. Tcc has just two instructors teaching it. The hesi exam isnt hard. Just make sure u know conversion, addition&subtraction, multiplication, word problems and so on. I bought the other book, because it had a lot of practice questions for the math and they break things down, plus was really helpful. The English section was ok aswell. Which other schools are you applying to? Which tcc campus do you attend? Have you taken all the classes for Midwestern, if not which are remaning for you?
Dec 12, 201411 yr @lorr19 Yeah in work at a bank now so im working as much as I can, and saving all the money I can as well! I took intro nursing at UTA my first year so I have that done. So i would have 3 classes my first semester at midwestern. I may take patho at UTA in the summer it just depends on the money. I am at the Southeast campus, what about you? I am only applying to midwestern for fall entry, the rest of the schools I am applying (UTA, TWU, Texas Tech, UT Tyler) for I have to wait to apply because of certain classes that need to be done before you apply and they wont be done because im taking them in the Spring so i have to wait to apply to them for Spring 2016 entry. If I don't get in to midwestern for fall entry then i will apply again for spring too, but I am pretty sure I will get in hopefully *fingers crossed*! I am taking Intro Socio during the wintermester at TCC. I am taking A&P 2, Hist 2, Speech, Music Appreciation(which is only a 8 week course so i will be done with it before i have to turn in my application), and Nutrition in Spring 2015. And then I will take microbiology in the first summer session and I will be done. You have finished all your classes, except patho?
Dec 12, 201411 yr Ya am done with all those classes they need. Am just taking pathophysiology in the spring so I have few classes my first semester. I took microbiology this past summer. Microbiology is a lot of studying. I loved it, and I prefer micro to anatomy. Just make sure you don't work too much while taking it. Am in the Southeast campus too. Did u take two diff physical education class? On MSU website, they say they need 2 activity courses. I had to take weight lifting in addition to phed I already took 2013. MSU goes by point system, so you should be fine. I would be applying to texas a&m and maybe university of Houston. But am sure I would get in to MSU, coz I would have over 80 points when my grades for this semester are calculated aswell.... last year's thread, someone got in with 65 points or so. I believe u b fine.
Dec 12, 201411 yr I actually talked to the Catherine today and she said that the degree plan thats on their website is for midwestern core curriculum. So if you are considered "core complete" at TCC then you are considered core complete their, so any extra classes that they have to be core complete you would not have to worry about. I think I explained that right, so i think you would have been fine with just phed but since you have both you really shouldn't have any problems with that. I would call and make sure. Yeah I heard Micro was a lot of studying, I'm more of a chem and A&p girl! Well i will be taking it in the summer by itself so im hoping it should be fine. Yeah i have been reading all the past threads, and I saw that so thats why I am hopeful! You will definitely get in, I wish you weren't going to UTA next semester we could have meet up on campus! lol
Dec 12, 201411 yr Well true, but at the same time just wanted to have those points as well.lol. Ya that's true we sure would have met up. its fun seeing someone from the same school applying to MSU. Microbiology is really interesting and fun too, you would enjoy it as long as you also have a good instructor that's passionate and knows the material well enough. We would meet up, when we getting close to start the program so we can be friends in nursing school too and not just still this site.lol..
Dec 12, 201411 yr Are you sure they count the physical activity courses in the points, because on the website it says that they exclude thoses courses from the section you get the 2 points for completed classes? Yeah i have heard the lab is really fun, cant wait! Yes we definitely need to meet up, at least we will kind of know somebody already in the program! lol I am so nervous, i will probably be even more nervous whne we actually turn in the applications and have to wait for a response for who knows how long! lol Have you decided if your going to live on campus when you move down there or off campus?
Dec 13, 201411 yr It's ok, even if they don't add the pe points, I have alot of points already that's competitive. Would be sending my transcript to Mrs Rudy to recalculate them cox, grades for this semester has been inputed. Am planning to stay in mustang village when granted admission. Probably would sign the lease early for august, because heard the apartment goes real fast and it's all bills paid.
Dec 13, 201411 yr Yeah i just wanted to make sure you knew. And good, she already calculated my points but that was before i was taking a wintermester class and another one of my classes is a 8 week class in the spring that ends before the application deadline so it will also give me extra points. So ill just probably drive up there and let her calculate my points again for me before I turn in my app. I want to stay in mustang village as well, I heard it was really good apartments! I didn't know it was all bills paid though! even better! Yeah once they send me my acceptance letter to the university I will apply for housing just in case just so I make sure I have somewhere to stay on campus. I dont want to stay off campus in a place I don't even know lol
