mickey button

I am just going to start NS but my daughter had a g tube and the mickey button was just a type of g-tube.

really good video on a Mic-key button.

All are gastrostomy appliances.

Here is a past allnurses.com thread explained excellently.

Thanks for the youtube video! I have never seen one of these changed (don't do peds) but was curious, too. The father doing it wasn't making much sense in that he doesn't use sterile gloves, but said that he makes sure to have the mickey button(s) packaging open so he doesn't touch the packaging and make his hands "unclean". I know you don't need sterile technique for this procedure, but looks like no one showed the dad the difference (as I watched him handle EVERYTHING with those gloves on, rendering them useless--except for avoiding touching anything wet himself).

I guess I should try to utilize youtube.com as a nursing reference, LOL!

I'm sorry I really didn't catch all that as I am totally unfamiliar with the contraption. Yes sterile isn't necessary as the child is already colonized to his and his homes "bugs". But should have been more of a priority by Daddy.
