Hi all -
I am considering moving to Dallas for this job from out of state. Does anyone have helpful information about the hospital and/or the department? The sign-on bonus and relocation assistance cash they are offering is attractive but I am curious if the hospital is OK or does it have some major problems. I have about 10 years experience in the department and the required certifications. If this pans out, are there decent neighborhoods in the area (15-20 minute commute) for house rental? I could live with paying $1,500-2,000/month if I could take my dogs for a walk without having to worry about getting mugged or shot. That's assuming the job would pay more than $25/hr. :)
Thanks in advance for feedback.

I was an overnight patient at Methodist Charlton and had no problems, although I have never worked there. I do personally know a few nurses who work at other departments within the hospital and they are happy.
Methodist Charlton is located one mile south of Interstate 20, which is a major east/west artery that can quickly take you to plenty of safe suburbs, so you definitely will be within 20 minutes of clean areas where you'd be able to walk the dogs without being mugged. The hospital itself is located in a suburb called Desoto.
$2,000 per month is expensive rent for the Dallas metro area, unless you intend to rent a detached single family 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house.

Hi!
That is awesome you are interested. I do work there and I have to say I love my job and LOVE my coworkers! Do I get I get tired and frustrated sometimes? Yes, but I'm sure you know it's like that in the ED. It is a super busy ED.

I live close to that hospital, did a clinical there, and have a friend who is a nurse technician there (was previously a CNA). She loves it!!! When I was there for clinical I loved the hospital as well, which is why I got a position with the Methodist system now :)
I say go for it! And you'll find a place for rent at that much easy. The location is great - smack in the middle of Everything so it's all easy to get to and spend your free time elsewhere in the area without a far drive to cool places.
Also - I live 20 min down I-20 from it. I rent a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, stand alone house for $800 a month :) if you search, you can find some good stuff!
