I'm worried about my sister. She was suicidal so my Mom committed her (mental hygiene hearing). She spent two weeks in a psychiatric facility. She is now out and doing outpatient therapy. It was never about DRUGS so please don't think that. She now takes antianxiety medications She is a Registered Nurse and I am an LPN. Is my Sister mandated to report it to her state board of nursing Or am I as an LPN? Thanks for any help. I tried looking it up but can't find anything on the subject.

What are you thinking you might need to report? That she was hospitalized, that she was suicidal, or that she takes anti-anxiety medications?
Needing anti-anxiety medications doesn't mean she's addicted to them any more than a diabetic is addicted to insulin...
I think I was misunderstood. She is not addicted I know she needs the meds as do I. But does she have to report it to the board that she was committed or that she tried suicide? Thanks. We have a big horrible history of depression and bipolar disease in our family.

I think you need to respect your sisters privacy and leave this up to your sister and her physician.
