What are you going for? if you are going for nursing or something in the medical field... medical term would be required and it is so easy to take. probably one of the easiest classes. So take it before you big classes start. Google Quizlet and you can make virtual flashcards and print them out and also play games with them. The computer will quiz you. You do this you will Ace anything that has terms ad vocab for any class.

If its just a text book you should by used as long as its in good condition.

You can invite all of your friends in your class to be in your group. Its like Facebook but for school. You can make flashcards and other study materials and you can share it with everyone. I love it. I can also find other nursing study guides from other students from other schools. Im telling you try it. They have tons of NClex reviews on there. Also you should go to Barns and Noble bookstore online and the textbooks there are half the price and also go to www.Alibris.com. I found 3 text books for $22.00 brand new and if I bought it anywhere else it would have been $150.00. I saved soo much with this these websites. Use the ISBN #s to find them also with the title too. Brandi, I really do think you should take the NA test, it's be a "practice test" for your N-Clex PN. You take your study skills from this and apply it to your NClex PN Exam. I know my friends who are RN's and LPNs even Medical Assistants said that they took on Nursing Assistant for a part time job while going to school and they actually did better in all their classes because they worked as a "nurse" and adapted all the skills and knowledge needed to be a nurse and by the time they were done with school and was time to take their exam, since they worked as a "nurse" in a nursing home and hospital they knew all the answers to the questions like the back of their hand because they dealt with the situations in real life while working in the clinics and did the nursing jobs. Since it was second nature to them now they went and took the exam without second guessing themselves. Even when there were questions they didnt know, they applied it to other similar events they dealt with and used that as a guidance to there answers. While working as an NA you can also make friends in he nursing field and use them as support to becoming a LPN. Nursing School is hard and you graduated already meaning that you can do it! So you went through it all and you know it all. If you didnt you wouldnt of made it through the first semester of classes. So you can do this. I know that I have to get my A game on when my nursing classes start in August. My children are my priorities but my schooling is my next priority. Just doing my pre-reqs was hard because I just skimmed through all my readings and just took my exams like whatever. I know that school is very important too me and I know that I want this really bad but I also know that I have t sacrafice my social life, my being a great mother to when mommy has time mother, and lock myself down on a strict schedule so i can succeed. This a short term sacrafice for a long term success in a great life for my family. So you get a call to go to a party or to a bbq and you have an exam coming up or reading to do... the last thing you want is to get behind.... ever. So, become a NA, get your study materials ready and make notecards so you can bring them EVERYWHERE.... literally. Study, study, study... in the bathroom, while eating, sitting and waiting in the car... you get what I mean. "Become the little girl who can site her favorite bedtime story without knowing how to read." and with this you will succeed.No questions asked. Though this time take your time and study, but keep it consistant so you can maintain all the imformation learned. Nursing changes all the time and thats why they say that you have to get done with the program within 4 years. You should call the nursing board to make sure how long you need to take the test. Like NA's they only have 2 years to take the exam before it expired. So you should check into that also. The cram exam seems like a good idea to because if you cant use your notecards, like while driving, you can listen to the cd instead. Make sure you give yourself at least a month of hard core studying before you take you exam next. you may hate being anti social for a little while but remind yourself why you are doing this. :nuke: To be a nurse. Since its been 3 years just reviewing the information wont be enough and carming for it wont be either. So play it smart this time and do it. you did your time in the class room and succeeded not this time its time to take your classroom experience and put it in the real world. You can do this!

you know also too what you can do is just take your NA test and work somewhere for a while. The you can become familiar and comfortable with the nursing thing again. Hands on is always the way too go. Its not what you want and thats not what you went to school to become but something in your life is not helping you pass this test. Maybe you can go out and get a field for it and the hands on experience may be the motivation you need. Plus when you do take you n-clex you will have already found a place to work with experience but this time go back as an LPN. =)It may be a good start concidering you took the test 3 times already. Maybe this is the break you need to refresh you mind. Take the NA test, work in a nursing home or hospital, and then prepare yourself for the N-Clex while you work as a NA.

CNA87, That is what I am afraid of, and I AM married. I am hoping that when I do start this fall that things will change and I will be given a fair chance at achieving my degree as an LPN. I hope your husband is on board with helping you out with watching the children, because honestly that is were the problem lies, time with children and school. you can't get anything done trying to do both at the same time. I know that you went through it already and I hope this time will be better for you. Keep you dreams and make sure that no one tells you otherwise. My husband told me that he isn't sure when it would be a good time to go to school, and I just told him, too bad if I have to pay for things than I am getting a career that will support me and the kids comfortably. Not pay check to paycheck, but if he is fine with me being a stay at home mom full time than I won't go to school or help pay for anything. He didn't respond to that. My children are 8 years old, 5 years old, 3 years old, and 3 months old. I really don't have a good support system. My family is busy with their lives and my husband.... well, lets just say he see's it as an inconvenience, even though I've explain to him that this is for us, our family, better income, better life, a short term sacrifice for a long term success and happiness. My sister and her boyfriend is going to try and help me out when they can, and my parents don't live very close to me so its hard to get them to help. They want to but its a long drive. I'm hoping I can depend on daycare to help me with time to study. Did you go full time or part time? After 3 years, was there times when you just wanted to give up and what helped you through it? I really do want this but I am afraid that I am going to fail because of not enough support and time. But it is a good idea to have a schedule with the children. Thank you!

Hi, I am a mother of four and I am wondering if I should go full time( taking 5 classes) or go part time (take 2-3 classes). I don't know if there are any other mothers out there that went through the same thing or any students that can give me some advice. I want to be able to take this program and pass with success. I dont want to take on more than I can handle, but I dont know how the course are designed. I am planning on taking Nursing Skills I, Adult Nursing I, Health and Nutrition, Intro to Practical Nursing, and Pharmacology to Practical Nursing. Does anyone recommend taking one over the other based on hard to not so hard. What are these classes like anyways? What is the first semester like? Are labs done in the first semester or just learning skills? I dont want to give up and I dont want to overwhelm myself either with taking care of kids and school. I will have about 20 hours a week for school and the rest to study and take care of kids. So what do you think I should do? How much time did you need to study your first, second semester?

Since you took it 3 times you should have that test imbedded in your head. Try to remember all that you took and write down how you prepared for the test and try something different. You should take a refresher course and get the newest N-clex pn with cd to help you study and make sure you go through it and learn in inside and out, There has been a lot of new things thats been taught since youve taken classes. Maybe you can see if you can talk to a tutor or I know that have a N-Clex review class in colleges so you should definitley take that and maybe meet other students that you can study with and this time you will pass.
