job applications here and there.. still no job!
i thought having an RN license would give me peace, actually it did. just not thinking about the exam and actually sleeping with no meds and numbers haunting you feels good. but after passing for a month, receiving my license and applying for jobs online.. i feel frustrated. i am in houston and seriously i am now having doubts that they are even hiring new grads. w/ no experience, with no certificates. or if they are even hiring --- so much to say but i can't complain, God gave me this blessing and i should be glad and contented. but i just wna move on - work. im n asking for a big salary, just enough for a NEW nurse. maybe i should try and look harder. im done with the medical center.i waited for a week, i thought maybe someone would call. but nah, im losing hope. time to look beyond the medical center. anybody here from HOUSTON??? who recently passed.. this year. do u guys have jobs already? where?? and how long after the boards?

new RN, waiting for license, what to do for the meantime?
hi everyone! :)) i am glad that this month has been great for me! i took my NCLEX and passed it. i am currently licensed in CA, tho i am living here in Houston. and i am on the process of endorsing for my TX RN license. application sent, fingerptinting done. just waiting for my Temporary license (i am not sure when I will have it). and about to take the NSG jurisprudence exam.. if waiting for my NCLEX results was killing me.. waiting for my TX license and NOT having a job almost does! pardon my exaggeration, but, the truth i am a foreign graduate from the Philippines. graduated last year (2009), and passed NCLEX for the 2nd time (just this month). i feel really useless now. i have been dependent on my mom almost all my life and i just really want to help out. My boyfriend has been helpful eversince, he pays all the time for us wherever we go. Just bcoz i have no job! believe me guys, i have been trying to land a job in anywhere for the past year. unit clerk, pt care assist, retail. but no jobs for me. AND NEWS and SURVEYS says HOUSTON has alot of jobs. well it does, but experience needed always blows me off. "but how am i gonna have experience if someone will not hire me right?" everyone: "is it gonna be ok for me to start applying now for RN jobs? with CA RN license, and waiting for my TX temporary and permanent license?" like,, just send out applications.. and if someone actually calls me for interview.. i can tell them yes, i'm an RN. and just pass my TX license when i actually have it??? .............OR............ should i just apply for ANY retail/clerk jobs again while waiting??? and just quit whenever a hospital/facility hires me??? i'm not even sure if that's legal or someone would hire me knowing that il just quit. looking at the job market right now, i am HOPEFUL but discouraged that i will be able to land any RN jobs, this month, next month and. next next month. so i thought of applying early.. or working another non nursing job.. and please.. any suggestions on what will help for me to be hired as an RN without experience, foreign graduate??? thanks everyone!! sorry for the long post..

help pls. license endorsement from CA to TX
hi guys :)) i am on the process of endorsing my ca license to tx. i already applied online, last friday. paid the $200. printed out the nursing verification to be sent to california brn. it is said in the 'end completion packet' that i needed to take the tx nursing jurisprudence exam.. and complete a livescan fingerprinting, since i reside in tx. it's been 5 days after i applied online.. (with sat, sunday) and it is stated.... "in order to be eligible for an electronic fingerprint submission, allow three business days to elapse before scheduling an appointment with l-1 identity solutions." ---- my question is, do i need to wait for a confirmation/mail/letter from tx bon that i am now gonna be able to schedule a livescan f.printing???? or do i just let 3 days pass.. and just schedule my fingerprinting without any letters/email/mail from tx bon?? ^^and for the tx nursing jurisprudence exam.. how will i be able to find out if it's ok for me to take it already? i've been checking my email accts and still no email from tx bon. i just thought i should just randomly schedule my livescan and tx jurisprudence exam since its already been 5 days.. thanks for the help guys!

realy need a help!!!! please
hi fellow filipina :) i am a foreign graduate too! i passed my nclex the 2nd time. during my first time, i only used KAPLAN live. it wasnt enough. from my perspective, (im not sure for the others). graduating outside of US, we need to review more on content. NCLEX is a US board exam, and frankly speaking, not all were taught to us. as I did my review, i have encountered alot of 'new' things. i am a proud graduate of my school, and i thought at first, it would give me advantages. for my 2nd time, i studied from the start. tho i knew the topics already, i still read thru them patiently. i used SAUNDERS comprehensive for content. and i finished it cover to cover! i also used NCSBN 3 weeks review. i finished all the questions. i answered the whole LAcharity book. it helped me tremendously with the prioritization and delegations! then i answered KAPLAN qtrainers, diagnostic test and readiness test and 200 qbanks. i ddnt even finish qbank, coz i felt i was ready. it was.. 'sit now and pass or do later and confuse urself more' so i sat for my exam. i got 180 questions. tons of math. GOOGLE images helped me with the rashes for specific diseases. KAPLAN helped me with ANALYSIS questions, NCSBN and SAUDNERS compre helpmed me with content questions, LA CHARITY. i nailed my prioritizations and delegations with it! i cant believe how it's such a great great book. and RANDOM FACT THREAD (allnurses.com, nclex forum) just above this, for LAST-minute-quick-facts. i read it 2-3 days before my exam. you can do it too! by the way.. we all know NCLEX is never easy. tho u studied ur b*tt off, it wil always leave u confused. take a rest for a week, 2 weeks or even more than that. failing nclex is heartbreaking, soo.. cry ur heart out after, be lazy in all for a few days.. go out.. after making urself feel comfortable, and u feel like ur ready to tackle ur nursing books again. STUDY. "STUDY like u've never studied before".. eventually. u will nail NCLEX! goodluck to you! and keep us posted :))

less than a week, pray for me
i think, you were the one who sent me a private message as king for suggestions on what to study for the last days :) i ddnt want to give any advice if i wasnt sure i passed (bcoz it might not work), and i did! so ill share it to you :)) DEFINITELY, read the RANDOM THROWING FACTS section of this forum. that's what i read, 2 days before my exam. and it really really really helped! make sure u know how your ECG's look like, and what to meds to give. memorize the LABS no matter what. know the formulas. know how rashes of certain disease look like.. prioritization and infection control! those are the major ones! i know somebody posted a MNEMONIC for infection control before, that's what i used. easy to remember :) thanks to him/her!!! or you can find it at RANDOM FACTS above .... i printed like 30 pages of it. brought it anywhere with me 2 dyas before my exam, and it helped me BIG TIME! good luck to you!

Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2
i am one of those hopefuls that pearson vue trick works! this is my 2nd time NCLEX RN, the first time i took it (last march 2010), i tried the trick, i was really expecting for it to be that harsh, but it took me to the credit card page.. now my 2nd time, i went inside the exam room and went out not feeling nervous, and i think its a bad thing. so after i got home from the exam, 3 hours to be exact, i did the PVT and i got the so called 'good popup'. then 4 hrs, 5 hrs, 6 hrs.. still the same! im even scared to go to sleep coz it might change! it worked for me the first NCLEX, it let me re-register again.. went all the way to the CC page.. that was the THIRD day after my exam tho.. after 15 days, got my letter, it said I FAILED. i was really hurt. but i really wasnt surprise. does it work even if you took your exam 2pm-6:30pm? i mean that's beyond office hours??? right? and who decides if you pass or fail? the computer? or the BON? now im confused! the PVT helped lessen my anxiety tho... but imagine how it would hurt thinking i passed then after 3 days / 5 days.. i failed????! THAT WOULD HURT BIG TIME! or maybe i should just think i failed? but I have faith in GOD. i know He will give what my heart desires. "for God knows what you are in need of, before you even ask" MATT 6:8

does pearsonvue trick works in california nclex?
if PVT really does work, then i hope the pop up wont change for me. i took my retake (4 hours ago) i've been trying PVT every hour and it still gives me same popup. it made my hopes up. but thinking that it's california (the process is slow for results) it still makes me anxious. alot of what IFS on my mind. GOD BLESS for everbody waiting for the results.
