I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find a thread on it. What meds do we need to know for NCLEX?
Thank you!

Aw, man. There are soooooooo many! I can't even begin to tell you (nor am I supposed to. )
A lot of people suggest knowing the classifications for the meds and their side effects, but personally, I wouldn't even know where to begin to tell you where to guide your studies in that aspect. You can know the classifications alright, but if you get a med (like I did) that gives you no clues in the suffix and the prefix, then you're kind of out luck. I guessed as best as I could and went ahead with my instincts. Sorry I wasn't able to help, but good luck!! :)

Know major medications/herbs ........ the basic classifications, side effects, and nursing interventions.
Good luck to you!

I even had a question on an erectile dysfunction med!!!...and it was not something simple like to do with heart disease or alcohol, I think it was a dosing question. I kept trying to remember the commercial for the drug, I ended up getting it wrong, I looked it up when I came home.
I only had a handful of meds. I think by this time either you know your meds or not. As there are so many meds you are supposed to know for boards, it would take months to learn everything about them.
So know the classes. know the main side effects. And worst case scenario ...GUESS. There are many other types of questions besides pharm.
