Can anyone tell me if they seperate Detrol and mix it with pudding just before they are to give it to a pt. who has trouble with pills?

You'll need to look that up:rotfl: If it is long acting or ER, no. If it is a capsule could you just give it with a bit of pudding?

what about those who would spit the capsule out? i have been told by our pharmacy that yes, we can seperate the capsules, and sprinkle in applesauce. extended release meds/sr meds, etc., cannot be crushed....

I just looked it up. Detrol can be separated. Detrol LA can not. When in doubt call your pharmacy. After working in LTC where a great number of meds need to be crushed you kinda get used to knowing which ones can. Everyso often you get stumped.

Thank you all. I have spoken with my Pharm. and yes it can be opened. I ran into a problem with some people at work about this the other night, of course everyone wants to be the "nurse". Fortunately, I am the only "nurse" that works there.
