Med sur help

I withdrew from Med surg last semester and I am now retaking it in the fall of this year. If there is anyone out there that did very well in Med surg , please can you offer some assistance . The University that I attend have only one med surg class which is a five credit class. The first test is normally acid base balance , respiratory and fluid and electrolyte content . Can anyone offer any suggestions are books that can give a better understanding of med surg etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would start with Fluid and Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy. Also, they have a Med-Surge book, called Med Surge Made Incredibly Easy. You can probably get them from your public library. They really break it down and will help you learn it this summer.

Would also study NCLEX books, Saunders is a good one and it will explain the topics you had trouble with, then there are sample test questions.

Also, for the acid-base balance...there is an AWESOME thread here that helped me a TON. Just do a search for it and it'll pop up. It was started about 4 years ago, but still just as relevant. :D

I agree with KristeyK - there are some awesome threads on this site about Acid-base balance as well as Fluid and Electrolytes. Also search for tic-tac-toe - this is a very helpful tool as well. Good luck!
