MCI RN and LPN Program

You may want to ask your counselor. I'm taking my last RN prereq now and I still have my final interview to do. From my understanding you can go from RN to LPN if you don't pass your RN classes, but I don't know about the other way around.

I went to MCI and did their LPN program a few years back-I had a great experience with the program itself. But, They were just implementing the RN program at that time and we were told their was a huge wait list, etc, so I continued on with the LPN program. About three months into the program we found out there was no waitlist and that they offered the pre-reqs at the school. A bunch of us from class wanted to drop the LPN program and just do the RN program, but we were told it was too far into the LPN portion and we would have to finish and THEN start the RN program. Needless to say we were all a little upset-so, if you're thinking about the RN program, do that one unless you want to do both.

I'm not for sure on that. I am in the LPN program at MCI. I just found out that we have to take the Hesi test. I have never heard of that before. We have to take it in 228, which is next term. I wanted to know if anyone from MCI has already taken it. What is it about, how to prepare for it. Any suggestions would be helpful. read your course catalog. it's in very very fine print in the upper 300's pages.

all mci diplomas are terminal.

even the mci lpn program does not transfer anything to it's rn program. i found this out a little too late.

you're welcome. i didn't look at it either until i was almost done with the program and started looking at bridge programs.

kinda sad they don't even take their own credits, but whatever. it got me from point A to point B. :)

I agree - don't transfer in the middle. If you want the RN, take the prereqs and follow that plan. Getting your LPN to get your RN right after will take longer to your goal and cost more money. If you want your LPN and get your RN years later, then it may not be that bad. I vote for going for the RN now.
