Kaplan is driving me nuts! Sometimes it wants me to round, sometimes it doesn't. It never tells me how many places to carry it out to, just always says, "how many ml?".
Anyone know?

I was thinking the same thing earlier when I was answering questions. I guess we should be rounding with drops/minute and such because you technically can't give 20.8 drops/minute.

2 places.. ex 1.75 = 2 . yah you cant adjust the rate to 20.8 drops/minute and for .8 that's nearly 1.

I go with two places, and it makes sense that you can't give 1.8 drops, so you give 2. Otherwise, look for rounding instructions in the question.

I can't help you with the Kaplan book, but I took the NCLEX-RN on Thursday and the instructions said to round to one place after the decimal point (i.e. 2.2), but save all rounding until the end (in case you have a multi-step math problem) unless the question tells you specifically otherwise.
HTH & Good luck!!!

NCLEX tells you where to round. I had 3 math questions yesterday.
Thank you! Now I feel better...

Hi, I have had math questions n the Kaplan, and Davis, where I rounded, even the stupid gtts/min...and got them WRONG. Which is of course, crazy...but this IS a nursing exam, right?? So now, I REALLY pay attention, if it doesn't SAY "round to nearest" I don't. Hope that helps, it's gonna be my strategy.
