I know this is early, but curious to see who else is planning on applying to Massasoits nursing program for fall 2016? I am finally on my last two prerequisites right now.
I guess I should've been a little more specific in my opening post. I would love to hear from those also who have already been admitted or finished the program at Massasoit community college as well. According to the rubric I should do ok when I submit my application. I have A's in all my prerequs that I have completed, I am currently finishing my last two right now which are microbiology, and sociology. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get A's in these as well. I still have to attend the information session, and take the TEAS, but Massasoit wont have dates for those until October. I'm just way too excited about this perhaps.

Hello, I also am finishing my pre-reqs at Massasoit. I am taking A&P I this fall semester and will only be missing A&P II which I will take in the Spring hopefully. I applied last year just for the heck of it and thought maybe they would consider my experience and forget the fact that I didnt have my Anatomy classes complete. I was denied. I spoke with one of the counselors that use to be on the nursing committee that accepts the students. She was very clear that even if your grades are outstanding and you have military experience, medical experience, ect., that if both Anatomy courses were not complete and with a good grade then the chances of getting accepted are very slim. I am applying again for the 2016 program just to see if I get it. I have a 4.0 GPA, military medical experience, and civilian medical experience working as a surgical tech. I am not relying on going to Massasoit. My top choice is BHSON. They have a great reputation and a high NCLEX pass rate. Since my GI BILL pays most of the bill I am not concerned about how expensive that school is. At this point I just need to get in somewhere ! So I plan on applying everywhere. I am disappointed in Massasoits system of accepting nursing students. I believe it is bias. I know personally some students that got in with pre-reqs still missing but their letter of reference was superb and somehow the reference was connected to the college. I also know students that got in with lower grades and a pre-req still missing over students that have all A's and no pre-reqs missing. The only difference was their ethnicity. While I understand affirmative action and its purpose I feel it limits Caucasians who also struggle and are low income. Anyhow, everyone has their opinion right. Just done give up!
Thanks for responding! I don't know anyone that has applied previously so I am unaware of them being biased as far who is admitted to the program. I'm pretty confident in my chances of getting in, since all of my prerequisites will be completed with A's when I apply. I have heard from advisors of people getting in without microbiology, but not anatomy. But with everything else you have completed I would think you'd still have a very good shot, especially with your GPA. I'd love to attend BHSON, but unfortunately it is out of my budget.
So I attended the info session and was completely caught off guard by this year's new info session writing sampleí ½í¸³ hopefully I did ok. I took the reading portion of the TEAS this morning and ran out of time with 6 questions left, giving me a score of 81. I'm thinking of retaking it before the deadline. Also noticed they added the algebra class that is required as a prerequisite to the rubric this year as well. I was planning on taking it in the spring, but now I will be taking the intercession course so I can have it on my transcript in time for the deadline. Hopefully some others will chime in soon, lol

Hi there, I plan on applying to the lpn - rn days next year and am registered for the 8th dec info session. I am also doing micro and soc this semester at the brockton campus. I was given a heads up about the writing sample but I was kind of hoping I tested out of algebra. When I check my degrees work, it says I meet requirements from placement exam. Other than that, I have all prereqs done with A-'s. I also did my TEAS before I did my LPN program but I know it says we need teas 5 and I sat for Teas 4. I am going to wait till the info session before I schedule any classes or exams. Fingers crossed.
I was planning on taking algebra over the spring semester as it was not on last year's rubric, but seeing how this year they included it on the rubric I was forced to take it over the 2 week intersession. I ran out of time on the TEAS so I only got an 81 which only gives me 4 points on the rubric...even with straight A's I'm worried about my chances of getting accepted and Massasoit is my first choice.

No worries LaBellaVita. I think you should be ok. I am currently in their generic evening program. Half way done. (May 2017) let me know if you have any questions. Good luck [emoji5]ï¸
Honestly I think your grades are great, you have your A&P's done and an 81 on the reading is still good. I wouldn't stress you have a really good chance. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket
I really hope so. How do you like the program so far? I'm applying for days.
I was going to try and retake the teas but there were no test dates left for January. I did submit an application to BHSN also, but I am unable to apply to anywhere else like BCC or Quincy as I do not have chemistry completed.
Have you considered applying to laboure college? Also as a back up. They do not require chemistry to get in. You get ur two year rn first and then while your a working rn you finish your bsn. You aren't restricted to completing the bsn with laboure but of course they want you too.
