Dec 20, 20196 yr Hi everybody- wanted to start a thread for those of you who are applying to the maricopa CEP with MCC. List the score you are applying with? Or does anyone know what the point range is this cycle?
Dec 20, 20196 yr Unfortunately, I don't think we will know the point range until the acceptance letters start going out. I am applying to NAU with MCC (PM first, then AM) as my first choices and SCC as my second choice. If my calculations are correct, my rubric score is 86.8. Good luck to everyone!Side note: How have your experiences been with the advisors at MCC? I have had great experience with one of them, and HORRIBLE with the other.

Oh yeah I was kind of hoping to see what the ranges where as everyone is turning in their applications. Are we able to confirm with the universities our exact points? I am in the low 80’s. So I’m a bit nervous and wondering... to prepare myself. My experience has been better than the advisors at gateway community college. I was originally going to apply at gateway but the advisor made me feel horrible and basically told me to rethink and start looking at other healthcare fields. Then I went to MCC and the one I spoke with was super encouraging and helpful.
Dec 31, 20196 yr I can totally relate, I spoke with one at gateway making me feel discouraged. I have a couple of classes that I should retake to up my GPA, but didn't think it was necessary to tell me to not apply. I just assumed that they could be a little more encouraging/optimistic while still being realistic.
Jan 2, 20206 yr How did the advisors make you feel discouraged? Were the referencing your GPA or something? Bare in mind that once you apply for the CEP, you will also have applied for the nursing pool so that if you don't get into the CEP, you will still (eventually) get into the program via the ADN route. Once you're onto the course, you can bridge over to start the bachelors. Yes, it's a longer wait to get in, but there is no need for anyone to be discouraging you! That's horrible! We always need passionate nurses, and every new student is the future of nursing. AC

I am on the wait list already for the regular RN program, but also working on the coreqs for the CEP application and they just came off incredibly discouraging which was disappointing. I have since retaken a couple of classes to see if that will help, so who knows!
Jan 2, 20206 yr You can calculate your points. It's out of 100 possible points.Your GPA x 10 (Example GPA of 3.64 x 10 would be 36.4 points)It's the HESI english score x.35 and the HESI math x.15(Example accumulative English score 90 x.35 =31.5)Degrees Associates will give you 2 points, bachelors 3 ,masters and up 4.Take away 10 points if you previously failed a nursing program.Add everything together that's your points. Hoping more people put some input I'm worried for sure as I'm in the low 80s I was really hoping to start at mcc with asu this year. praying for the best. I was told 75 CEP seats

I am genuinely sorry that you had that experience; as long as your GPA is over 2.0 (I think) and your HESI scores are over 80% English and 75% math, then you are fine for acceptance onto the ADN. Admittedly those scores wouldn't be competitive for the CEP, but that doesn't mean they should dissuade you from the program all together. Can I ask what your GPA is? and your HESI scores? (You can PM me if you prefer). If nothing else, this scenario above should be explained to you, so that you can at least feel good about getting into the ADN program.

I was told 75 CEP seats I have four friends, all GPA above 3.5 and we all have around 78-81 points. My advisor told me to try to aim above 82 but it all depends on the pool as well. If a lot of people applying are around the 78-81 points then you have a great shot at getting in. I’m retaking the HESI to try to get to 81 points. I passed the HESI with an 83% and I’m at 77.8 points (not crying lol) and my GPA is 3.6.

But there are a couple people I spoke with that have 83-84 so I’m getting worried. Hahha. You have until the end of this month. You can do it. mom going to stick with my HESI scores I got. I got a straight 80.67 for English (which I thought for sure I was going to fail) it was just enough. Hahah. Then my math I got a 90. I believe my GPA is 3.75/3.77. I emailed the advisors at ASU to officially calculate my gpa for me. But I do have an associates degree that helped with a couple points. Fingers crossed as the weeks go by....

I’m getting mine in May so if not this round, nest hopefully!
Jan 3, 20206 yr Author Oh nice. I was totally disappointed in my math. The last time I took it I got 96 for math then missed the English by 1 point. This time around I was slacking!! Lol. I looked at my results and already I missed a question about adding factions. I was like omg! Seriously! Come on. Well I hope we both get in. Stay positive. Good luck if you retake the HesiA2.

My GPA is likley killing me but I want ready to retake a class until I applied at least once with CEP. I slacked in eng 102 and got a C l. Everything else I got an A except micro I ended up with a B ? my gpa is 3. 43 ) on English I got an 86 and math a 94 I'm aiming for a 90 on the English that I take on the 17th. I have 80.9 points if I am aiming to get to 82 which I have to get a 90 on the English. Does anyone know if on the hesi if they take the scores only from one test or if they will take the best scores. I doubt I'll get higher than 94 for math but was hoping to keep it and this time around focus on English to get that score up.
