do you make your study plan from your objectives?

Published

If you have, how did you go about doing it? and has it been successful?

When you say Objectives, do you mean the Objectives in your textbook? At the beginning of each chapter?

I use to type them out and turn them into questions --- and then answer them. I used them as a review before each test. But it became too time consuming! Not to mention, I quickly realized that the tests had absolutely nothing to do with the textbook.

So I switched gears and bought a couple of supplemental books for review. I bought a Saunders NCLEX review and the "Straight A's..." series. Both are great and have CD's with tons of practice questions.

Thanks for your response. I meant objectives in your syllabus

Not really...most of my teachers test directly from their notes, so my study plan simply consists of reading the notes, finding supplemental material if necessary (rarely) and making notecards to review.

Sure, study from the Objectives in your syllabus. But ultimately, it won't help you with the NCLEX style questions. You'll need a supplemental book for that.

During Fundamentals the teachers kept telling us to study the objectives. I never did and still don't. I have a B.

Our professors told us to try and focus on our objectives when studying -- I haven't looked at my objectives since they went over them with us and I am maintaining 'A's'. The objectives are OVERALL objectives, so when you finish a course it may be a good idea to go back and look at the objectives to see if you understand everything you are supposed to.. but then again I don't know anyone who has ever done that, myself included.

I don't think I ever even read the objectives in the syllabi :uhoh21:

And I graduated in June with a 3.75, but it all really depends on the instructor...

All As in my prereqs and through 8/10 weeks of semester 1 - haven't looked at them yet. I think the objectives in our powerpoints are actually taken from the book's publisher, and I don't see how they'd be helpful with NCLEX-style questions.
