Go up your chain of command, your S-1 should be able to answer the question for you. If they can not answer your question then call HRC (but keep your chain of command informed of what you are doing). How much longer do you have in Korea? You might not be able to get a hospital based billet until your follow-on assignment.

Sounds like you are fairly new to the Army. Did your squad leader give you any directions to go or tell you that he would find out for you? If his only answer was that he did not know (which is fine), but did not help you with direction or was going to find out for himself that is a totally unacceptable and should not be tolerated by your command. I will give him the benefit that he is doing the right thing and helping you with this.

Remember getting reassigned will not happen overnight. Depending on your units mission and strength they might not be able to lose you until your replacement arrives.

yup - I'd give it a go on your next duty station / assignment - which is a short one give your rotation to Korea.

The infantry is the best place to be... your time will pass fairly quickly there.

ummm..no, unless you think spending 90% of your time in the motorpool cleaning connexes, fixing tracks you thought you fixed last week, and staring at nothing for hours and hours under subzero temp sounds fun, you're probably right. I don't really mind being in Korea, it's just the place where I'm in that sucks.
