LVN to RN

I'm the same way, also...I'm a horrible test taker...I absorb the material in class and feel like I know it, I'll study until I think I have it down, and then once the test comes...I blank- I wish I had advice, but hopefully the other posters will.

Is she already enrolled in an LVN program?

I am currently in LVN school. I choose LVN route due to the RN programs in my area being so competive. A friend of mine to all of her pre requesits to the RN program and was turned down by 3 different schools. All due to GPA not being high enough. RN programs in my area have about 700+ applications for only 100 slots. Once you are a LVN you are not a risk to the school for dropping out and many schools give priority to LVNs for enrollment. i'm gathering info for my step-daughter. she's a hard worker, and not dumb, but she has trouble with test-taking, gets anxious, etc. can't get her gpa up high enough to get into an rn program. what are the opportunities out there for taking an lvn course, working for awhile, then getting into an rn program? i think she would do well as an rn once she gets past the gpa thing. she's going to be taking a & p for the 3rd time this summer...she has not failed it, but just not quite a high enough grade on it...any suggestions would be appreciated. please feel free to private email me. she is 22 yrs old, and very persistant and a hard worker, and has a great personality.

just chiming in to wish her luck. i think looking into a test taking seminar may be helpful, too. be careful about retaking courses over and over- some rn programs around her penalize you for retaking courses that weren't failed. not sure if this is the norm. it's like a double-edged sword. :uhoh21:
