LVN program at a private school VS. R.O.P. school?

Just from what I have read on this board (not first hand knowledge), the private schools do not have a waiting list.

Most private school enrollment is continuous, meaning they take in new students every semester, versus ROP, they usually finish the whole LPN program before taking in a whole new batch of students, which takes up to about 18 months, at least that's how it was in the ROP i attended. The cost of my program was $180.oo for class dues (which was reimbursed to us at the end of the program to pay for the NCLEX exam), so all I had to pay for was pretty much my books, even our uniforms were free, unless you wanted extra ones (which you do, trust me esp. during clinicals), so if money is of concern, I'd say take the program at ROP, but if it isn't then it doesn't matter where you take it really, what really matters is PASSING THE NCLEX-PN EXAM!!!!!

the rop school usually has an agreement with local hospitals and nursing facilities to handle clinicals. at least the ones i am considering do. if you do well enough in the clinicals, these same facilities look at hiring you when you pass the nclex.

the only difference is the price and how quickly you can get started.

As was stated above, the cost is more than likely the biggest factor to consider between ROP and a Private School, along with the time to get in.

Both have to follow what the state mandates as the required classes, so you should be getting about the same as far as education is concerned.

As far as clinical locations were concerned when I went to school, it was a mix of both LTC's and Hospitals that the school had an agreement with. I much prefered the hospitals over the LTC's, because I feel you learn a whole lot more in that setting.
