Hello all-I have posted/commented on several threads about my inablity as a new grad to find a job: well no longer!
I interviewed on Tuesday and the recruiter called and offered the job to me today! I am so happy. It is a med/surg nights (7-7) and exactly where I wanted to start out!
I am so grateful for all the support this board gives! I know many new grads are in the same boat I was- unable to find a job. My advice is to just keep applying. Something will come!

Congrats!!!
Send some of that 8/8/08 luck my way---:chuckle
Congratulations Kate!
Sounds like 8/8/08 was your lucky day indeed. When I was doing my clinicals, many nurses recommended starting out with 1-2 years experience in med-surg. As a new grad myself, I'm looking for a med-surg position also. I've heard different views, but I think starting out on days is a big plus. You'll probably be working with more experienced nurses than any other shift.
My "baby boy" was born at 7:59am on 8/08 (I don't think either one of us could wait 1 more minute until 8am!) He thought it was cool that he turned 21 yesterday (08/08/08). I tried to talk him into having an Summer Olympics theme party but I failed.... Instead he wants a "taco fiesta"....tacos, fajitas, salsa dips, etc...and cold beer! Hopefully the weather cooperates here.
Good luck in your new position!
