LPN to RN

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hey everyone. I am a new LPN as of december 09. I put myself through a hard 1 year program and passed my boards in 90 questions.

I am looking to go LPN to RN program near me in toledo ohio, but every place I check out says it will be about 2.5-3 years to get my RN because my credits from my LPN program don't transfer and I have to do pre reqs. I was just wondering if there is any help for me I am trying to get my RN or BSN ASAP. I am looking for in class or online courses. Just want to get it done so I can move to the next step in my education.

All help is appreciated.

Unfortunately thats how it is everywhere, im from southern ca and i have relatives in texas who also said that they too require pre-reqs even though you are in lvn already which will take you about 2 to 3yrs depending if youre going full time or part time to finish them..i graduated as an lvn in 2005 and finally was done with the pre-reqs in 2009 and im still trying to enter an RN program at my community colleges. It is also very competitive , so if you decide to start your pre-reqs, remember you will need to get A's or B's. If cost isnt an issue to you then you can always look at the private colleges around you that will charge you thousands and thousands to start right away. GOOD LUCK!

I don't know how possible this is for you, but Hondros College in Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati does LPN to RN in 18 months. They're a little picky with their prereqs, since some of their geneds are 4 credits and most university are 3 credits, but if the drive is worth it, I'd look into it.

Things are different here in NC. I graduated from LPN school 7/2009 and just found out that I have been excepted into the PN to RN transition program (which there are only 10 slots available and over 150 people applied). I am so excited about this opportunity as I will only have 2 semesters to complete. Best wishes to all out there.
