LPN to RN

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Currently an LPN, live and work in Lake County, IL. Would like to go for an RN, wondering how and where I can go for it in the Lake/Cook County area.... help!

Depends on your district... It would be either Harper or College of Lake County. Both have excellent nursing program.

If you are in Lake County, you would go to CLC. Harper is actually Cook County I believe...I know I wouldn't have been accepted there.

You can get information on their website at www.clcillinois.edu

You will need to take the NLN test to be accepted into the program. I believe you have to have that test done by September 2 or something like that. There should be a list somewhere on the website with that information. I usually just do a search on the site for Nursing or NLN or something along those lines and it brings everything up for me.

Also, you will need to make sure CLC has your transcripts as well as an application and you have to attend one of their informational sessions which is also listed on the website.

The cutoff in September for applications is for the Spring semester. The cutoff for next Fall is the first Tuesday or Wednesday in January. I would also suggest going in and talking to someone or even call the Nursing Education office. They can tell you what you may have to do. I'd also look into pre-req's and see what you need to do still...if anything.

I am going into my second semester there. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me!
