LPN to RN Question?

Hi,

I have attended Capital for four years now and have completed all me pre-reqs. My GPA is a 3.0.I was considering starting lpn school in march because my API is only a C+. I feel that my chances of getting in are very low and I just want to start a nursing career already! I figured that If i did the 12 month lpn program at lincoln and then bridged over it would be easier for me because I have finished all my pre-reqs.I am a C.N.A at a nursing home and group home so finding my first job won' t be hard. I am really ready to just get my life started IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!Does anyone know if their is a better chance of getting accepted to the CC nursing program as an lpn rather than a pre-nursing student? Also does anyone agree with my decision? I am just looking for some advice,at this point im tired of talking to friends and family because they don't understand how hard it is!

You are absolutely going in the right direction, Melissa! I'm an LPN and doing the bridge program into an RN program (Goodwin's). Not only will having an LPN allow you to leapfrog a year of RN coursework, I've heard that some schools accept all the LPNs that apply into their programs just for the fact that having your LPN demonstrates that you've already been able to make it through one nursing program (makes it more likely you'll pass the RN program).

Going from LPN to RN bridge is great idea BUT it doesn't mean you'll get accepted any easier. They (CCC) take readmits first and if there is room they will accept a certain amount of LPN's in and don't forget transfers. We had 3 readmits, 7 LPN's and 2 transfers this past semester. Go get your LPN and you'll be fine.

i was a CNA for ten years in june 2011 i graduated from lincoln technical institute and like you i want to start my nursing career as a RN fast am also thinking about goodwin is true as a LPN u skip 12 credits @ goodwin but they dont accept any credits from lincoln tech. @ goodwin you still have to get your pre req done and go thru their point system but like you i dont know what is the best route. comm. college all have a waitin list and goodwin is competitive but i heard is a good program. good luck
