Rue and TCN are just publishing companies. They are not affiliated with Excelsior, although they try to make it look that way. You must use TCN for Indiana State.

Where do you live? Most, but not all, states will accept Excelsior.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

There's lots of information and advice on our Distance/Online forum there. I'll move your question there.

I am just recently starting (though I have been starting for about 7 years now :) It's official for me now...this is my time to get this done. I have purchased all the study materials from Rue years ago, and have also tried Istudysmart.com. They both are a waste of money to me. Either way...you have to use excelsior..so you might as well start with them. Rue's materials are great..they include a thick study guide and textbooks and I paid around $3,000 which they will budget for you monthly. Istudysmart..I paid $500 for but it is an only study guide and does not include textbooks. I didn't like it because every answer had to be printed seperately which made for a mess of paperwork, and they restricted you to a year of usage of the program. Please check which state you are in. I originated in MD which no longer accepts distance degrees and am currently licensed and living in Nevada where they do. Any questions...please don't hesitate to ask.

Maryland does accept ISU for distance learning. Just an FYI to Stacie. I'm in Maryland and doing ISU. The BON accepted the program in May of '07.

I found out recently that TCN isn't necessary for ISU either. The modules are an option or you can buy the textbooks instead.
