LPN programs in Central Florida

Published

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good LPN programs in the Orlando area. I'm more specifically looking for LPN programs that have a summer start date, as I know I'm too late to enter any program that starts in January. However, all I can find are programs that start either in August or January.

The schools I was looking at were Lake Technical Center (closest to me), Seminole Community College (though their LPN program is only available to start once a year in January from what I could see), Orlando Tech (though it kind of appears to be a ghetto school.. but please correct me if I'm wrong, I have no idea really). I'm willing to travel up to an hour and a half away if I need to (I live in Lake County). Thanks in advance.

I'm starting Orlando tech in January. I did my research on alot of schools in the area. This was the most reasonably priced one. I also looked into Lake Tech. There are also private schools that are more expensive though. There is Cambridge in Longwood and Centura Health on Edgewater Drive. This would be their first Lpn program. Orlando Tech is ok so far no complaints. I think they have programs that start up in Jan, May, and August. But as far you saying that Orlando Tech is "ghetto" (whatever that means) that really should not be an issue as long as you concentrate on your main goal, which is to get through the program, pass the boards, and become an LPN.

There is one in Kissimmee called TECO

I have a friend who attends the LPN program there and is doing very well. They have some type of affiliation with Valencia so that once students graduate and become LPN's they can fast track through Valencia's RN program.

I went to TECO for my LPN and LOVED it!! They really prepare you for your boards, everyone in our class passed them on their first try!

And once you have you're LPN if you're planning on continuing on for your RN most schools have a fast track-program! I'm finishing up one at Polk Community College and thendoing a fast track for my ARNP after that with USF (pending my grades stay where they are and I get in!)

I was just wondering if Orlando Tech is in a bad area of town since I live over in Lake County and I'm not familiar with that part of Orlando.

I emailed Lake Tech and their full-time day LPN program starts in July. Orlando Tech has a FT program that starts in May.. the sooner the better. Kissimmee is a tad bit far but if they have a program that starts sooner than Orlando Tech I'd definitely look into them as well. Their website doesn't say much about program start dates though. I might have to email them to find out.

I actually have about 40 community college credits towards my AA knocked out.. and I was thinking about going for my BSN but it's nearly impossible to get into UCF's nursing program. And it's even difficult to get into community college RN programs. So that's why I'm beginning to think the LPN-RN route is the best. And also, I'll only be in school for a year and then I'll be able to start working. I'm SO sick of working retail so this looks extremely tempting, lol.

My cousin had to move out of state temporarily simply because she couldn't get into a regular RN program here in Florida. I thought there was a nursing shortage? lol

There's a nursing shortage but that doesn't mean that there are enough teachers to teach RN programs. Orlando tech is downtown right by the Orlando amway arena. Area of town is fine.

Another Kissimmee TECO grad here.

Usually no waiting list, as long as you qualify.

A challanging program, but myself and all classmates passed Nclex first time.

I checked out three schools. I checked out orlando tech in downtown (starting in May), Centura institute by edgewater(lee rd area) (starting in July), and Americare school of nursing in casselberry (starting in June). Im going to start at Americare if I get accepted on thursday. Its more expensive but it seems like a good school. hope this helps

Hey how much is the tuition for TECO? Because I went to Orlando tech and their tuition was almost 5000$ and I'm here at Centura and their tuition is $25,000 big difference -_- any suggestions on a cheap around 4000 to 5000 dollar LPN PROGRAMS that are good?

Has anyone applied or will be applying for the PT LPN program @ Lk Tech? The program will be starting in Nov 2010.

can u tell me the requirements for this school (americare)? would like to attend but website is not much help. :)
