Hello everyone,
I am currently attending ECPI college of technology for the Medical Assistant program but am really considering switching over to the LPN program. Initially, that is what I wanted to do but was talked out of it by my advisor. Medical Assisting is not what I want to do at all. I know that the LPN program is more extensive but I work at the hospital as a Nutrition aide/receptionist and they are willing to work around my schedule. I eventually want to become an RN and work at the same hospital. Could someone explain to me what an agency is? Do you do a lot of traveling? Thanks.

Agencies help to staff hospitals and other healthcare facilities with employees like RN's and LPN's. As a general rule, agency nursing pays great money, but reputable agencies generally want their nurses to have at least one year of prior nursing experience. As an agency nurse, you'll likely be expected to function on your own with very limited orientation.
Thanks, I got a little confused because some of the agencies around here are only for nurse's willing to travel and they get paid around $17.00/hr.
