LPN Licensure

I contacted the PA BON last summer with the same question and was told that in order to sit in the PN licensure exam you have to finish a PN program.

You must attend at least one quarter of PN school. I was in this position back in 1996. I made it quite far in my RN program, however, in order to get LPN I had to graduate from practical nursing school. I had failed a course in RN program, and it was going to be another year before I could repeat it. So, I took 12 wk. course of PN program and took the nclex. Unfortuantely, I never did get back to getting my RN as planned. Oh well, at least I have my LPN.:wink2:

You have to graduate from PN school. LPNs in the state of PA are required to have a minimum amount of clinical hours whereas RNs do not.I'm not exactly sure how many clinical hours you need but the only way the BON can assure that you have completed your mandatory clinical hours is to have the candidate complete an approved LPN program.

Im in the same situation, I went to nursing school in NJ but I failed the last class of my nursing program. I know Florida BON would let you sit for the NClEX-PN, but im not sure if PA BON would change the florida PN license to a PA license. You also mentioned that you took a 12 week PN course. Would you be willing to give me the name of that school, I would truly appreciate it.
