LPN Course Help

Has anyone decided on the LPN Program?? I am hearing such negative feedback about it being a waste of money and not being able to find a job. I was accepted in a program to start in Sept. I was really excited at first but after hearing all the negatives, I am worried it's not the right choice. Please can anyone tell me anything poitive???

Thanks,

You will always hear negative comments on anything. I guess some people go for their lpn instead of their rn because it's quicker. There are jobs out there it maybe harder for one than another but lpn positions are available.

Listen to me LPNs will ALWAYS have a job. Don't let anyone discourage you. If its in a clinic, a nursing home, someone's home YOU WILL FIND WORK!

Thanks! I am looking forward to the program but the minute I mention that I am going for the LPN right now.. I hear what for?? Its a waste, you should be an RN. I do plan on going for my RN later but right now this is the program I am starting. I really dont understand why LPN's are getting such a bad rep!!

People don't understand what LPNs do. In my opinion some people interchange the duties of CNA and RN thinking that RN just clean patients all day (btw i am not saying that is all that CNA do, i appreciate all the help I can get.) . So to people will think a LPN is very very low on the totem pole. And people think it's super easy to become a RN.

Don't let it bother you. The next time someone makes a comment like that ask them exactly what is the difference between an RN and LPN? Since they won't know or they wouldn't be so narrow minded maybe they will stop putting down others because they don't understand the actual difference. Good luck!

Thanks I feel better. Absolutely none of the people making the comments even work in the medical field so I am sure your right they do not have a clue as far as the difference of the nurses
