I have been looking into using another travel agency in addition to my current one. I'm currently employed with Robison Med Resource Group and love them! I have been told it is to my benefit to keep more than one agency at my service. I have been looking into Sunbelt staffing, Intelistaf, Jackson Nurse Prof (formerly CCTC), and Americal Mobile. Any comments?

also Soliant Healthcare staffing

Specializes in dialysis, home care, ICU.

I didn't know CCTC even changed the name! And I work for them...go figure. I've been happy with QTStaffing...not sure what your specialty is, I work dialysis. I've noticed that companies seem to lean toward specific areas, it's a good question to ask when you're first contacting recruiters.

RN traveler you are mistaken about Jackson Nurse Prof. They were formerly Travel Nurse Solutions. There is plenty of changes in the industry and its hard to keep up. Opening, closing, merging , etc. You may know the big guys are American Mobile, CCTC, and RNNetwork. These tend to have MORE jobs in many specialties, including dialysis. And they have more (many more) people working for them, and they work for the investors or stock holders. So bottom line, we the nurse/tech/rad tech, etc. take home less. I did a couple contracts with NovaPro - part of Cross Country. I loved my recruiter. She was easy to talk to, returned calls, etc. I also dealt with her assistant, a housing person, a payroll person, a benefits person and account manager who actually did the interview FOR the client (hospital). No complaints. I'm with Sagent, a small company now and I've only spoken to 1 person, my recruiter except for her short vacation. No complaints. When you are registered with several companies you must be sure to not be submitted for a job more than once. Insist that they ASK you before they submit you to a hospital. AND they tend to call repeatedly or email every couple days with jobs, jobs, jobs, that you don't care about. So that's the slight down side to working with multiple agencies.

Thanks for your advise..god bless!

Specializes in Operating Room.

Whatever you decide please stay away from American Mobile...they are horrible and steal your money. They offer such low laughable rates and my friends that signed with them were getting screwed. Do your research and checkout highway hypodermics for the top 10 travel nurse companies. Always have at least 5 companies under your belt just in case because not all companies have contracts with hospitals you may want to work with.

My advice would be to have a min. of three travel companies you are set up with. Compare each of them...put them up against each other. Use excel spreadsheet. They will try to word things differently..but get everything exactly the same...how much will you take home (after housing) each month.

This area went thru major changes after economy declined and many hospitals didn't want to pay same travel rates so they started hiring 3rd party travel agency who basically damaged nurse-travel company relationships by reducing pay and at times cancelling current contracts. Alot of travel companies went under. Now many travel companies are trying to restore that trust again with travel nurses..but I will tell you ....alot of the recruiters went onto permanent placement as that area is much stronger because nurses are just trying to lock in jobs.

Every staffing agency is different im currently on a travel assignment in Hawaii cause my family is from here. The agency i use if very friendly and was very helpful and worked with me. I was working in California for a while and thats when i heard of them because i was not familiar with the company at all but they seemed big over there. Its called Strategic Healthcare Staffing. My recruiter was a sweet heart i would definitely recommend this company as ive been with them for almost 2 1/2 years now. Feel free to pm if you would like. Good luck with everything:)

I worked with Titan Medical in the past. They were great. My recruiter was ALWAYS available. There was never a problem with my housing, pay, travel accomidations, etc. I was paid well. Currently taking a break from travelling but I'll always recommend Titan.

I would stay clear of Strategic- found out the new president was forced to "retire early" from his prior job as a corrections officer. If you google Strategic's president, Peter Curcio you will see he was a disgrace to law enforcement. NYC Mayor Bloomberg was ****** at Mr.Curcio according to the article. What really put the nails in the coffin on Strategic is Mr. Curcio is a consultant to help felony inmates!!! stay far away from this shady company!!!

Here is one article: TOMBS CORRECTION CHEIF PETER CURCIO RESIGNS AFTER JAIL BAR MITZVAH SCANDAL - NYPOST.com

Hmm... Not exactly the worst offense I've ever heard of - allowing a Bar Mitzvah to be held in the jail. Not good judgement perhaps (and he resigned), but I don't think I would pass on a good assignment based on that. Travel companies are not jails! Some folks go to extremes with stuff like that - only working or being a customer of a place whose CEO has certain religious beliefs, or even "lower" beliefs like gun ownership or political party.

Having personal and business ethics is a good thing - how do you feel about working strikes for example? What about taking care of convicted criminals? There is a certain sense of balance that is required to stay afloat in modern life. Not working for Strategic for this one reason lacks balance. You could also run a background check on every employee of every agency you work for, but really? Strategic president would pass that particular test.
