Looking for a school.....HELP!!!

Published

Hello All,

I am currently in the process of looking for a nursing school to get into. I have taken almost all of my pre req's except for A&P. I will begin taking that this semester. Most of the schools that I have looked into have long waiting lists which I was trying to avoid. Does anyone have any suggestions on what schools are good and what schools I should look into? I would prefer an ADN program but if I dont have any luck with those I am willing to consider a BSN program. Thanks so much for your time and responses!!!

It totally depends on where you live, MI is a big place :).

I live in the detroit area but I am willing to travel if I have to. No more then maybe an hour from my home

There is no wait list at Macomb Community College in Clinton Township. That is the only school I know for sure doesn't have one.

Thats a start! Thanx much :)

Look into Toledo, OH schools. Lourdes College is in the northern part of Toledo, also Mercy College has an ADN and BSN and is also located relatively close to the border. I work in Ann Arbor, but got my LPN and am starting my third semester of ADN in Toledo. Job opps are better in Michigan, but more schools are in Toledo (or at least, shorter wait lists). Not by chance that too many new grads in Toledo-area, as so many schools.

I goto KCC in Battle Creek and there isnt a waiting list as far as I know of.........I was an LPN and I got right into RN transition program.....

Now thats the RN transition program. Would that be the same for just a regular ADN program? Because I am not an LPN as of now I am only a medical assistant.

Oakland community college is another school that does not have a waiting list, although you have to have high GPA scores to get in right away, otherwise you have to keep retaking your classes to get a higher grade.

Yes they are another school I was considering. I am currently at WC3 and the other schools I am considering are OCC and HFCC. I hear that HFCC waiting list can range anywhere from 12-18 months but some people got in within 7 months. For OCC and Wc3 I need to finish A&P before I can even submit my application. I have done all the co req's these two classes are the only ones I have left to do. If I take Chem I can get on HFCC waiting list in the Summer of this year. I don't know what I should do. I am strongly considering doing so so at least while I am working towards the others I am on someone else's waiting list. What do you think?
