Looking for a RN program in the broward county/ Dade county area

Published

Good morning, I'm in the process of looking

For a RN program to start during the fall. I'm a Lpn, I've taken all my prerequisites for the AS degree in nursing. I once was in the RN program at Broward College, two semesters from graduating and was unsuccessful in doing so. I applied at Miami Dade for their program, so I'm just waiting to hear back from them. In the event I don't start this August, I need another plan to start at a good school this year so I can hurry and finish school. Any pointers on what schools other than BC and MD that offers Rn programs? Thanks In Advance, Aletria.

Did you retrack back into the program at BC or did you only fail one course ?

I failed twice after getting my LPN and they allow you a total of two failures, unless things have changed. I failed in Peds and Ortho neuro.

Chamberlain is a great nursing school and it's accredited.

Check into Keiser University, there is a Miami campus I'm positive. There's a handful of them across Florida. I went to their Orlando campus, it's fully accredited, otherwise I wouldn't of gone! Lol. The RN program is 15 months long so it's fast track but you only have to be on campus probably 3 times a week. It is a private University but they have financial aid including Pell grants, military grants / scholarships, they match your Florida prepaid college credit if you have it, etc. They provide MANY options for affordability. I loved that school and it had small class sizes making one on one with your professors easy.

Oh and they have 3 cohorts every year start so you have 3 chances to apply throughout the year.

I attend Barry University, I will be graduating in August, I had a similar situation at BC back in 2012 but I failed one course so I wasn't kicked out the program. I just decided not to retrack instead go for my Bachelors but I don't know since you are already a LPN you can try the different programs. Barry also has a LPN to BSN program as long as you have all pre-reqs done and your gpa is above a 3.2.

Thanks Ladies for your feedback. I will be checking into all schools mentioned.

I have a great link that will help you figure out which school offer the programs that you're looking for around in your area. It's pretty self explanatory you just have to pick a state, enter your zip code, pick your programs and whether or not it is a 2 year program, 4 year, certification program, etc. Hope this helps you figure out which school offer the programs and gives you a little insight on your options.
