Just send resumes to as many hospitals as you can, in a town in which you would enjoy living. It's a numbers game. The more resumes you send, the greater the odds you will get an interview.

Thanks for your response, but I respectfully disagree. Your advice is (sort of) offending my intelligence :)

Sending hundreds of resumes will not get your foot in the door in today's economy. You can get lucky, of course, but I haven't. Very few hospitals have OR training programs for new graduates.

Have you thought about joining the military? You may end up working on the Med/Surg floor for a few years, but once you have completed the perioperative program I can assure you that will be your life till you retire.

many...and I am still sending them out...so I bought the lottery tickets, now I have to help my luck a little bit

many places cancelled they OR orientations for new graduates due to lack of money, however they did not update their web sites, and this is becoming very frustrating

I already spoke to them. They require citizenship (I don't have it), and BSN (I'll have associate, and my degree from another field does not help).

VA or any government job is out as well.

If you are willing to work anywhere in the country, you should be spending eight hours a day sending out resumes. Otherwise, you are not trying your hardest. Most people are not willing to relocate. You have a huge advantage.

Tell them you are willing to be a nursing assistant until you find a nursing job. This will provide you with a little income while getting your foot in the door. If you do a good job as an assistant, and they like you, they will definitely eventually give you a nursing job. And you will be building your resume with operating room experience in the meantime.

Linda, no hospital will hire an RN as a surgical tech. At least in Pennsylvania.
