Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi guys,

My name is Brian, I am new to allnurses and i'm excited to be here. I'm really motivated about starting my nursing school journey(next year). I am in my last year of prereqs. I'm taking A&P1 and Micro now and it's really challenging. I will be applying to two or three ADN programs. This thread is to find other people that will be taking TEAS and finishing up prereqs this year. What classes are you guys taking??

Specializes in Wound Care.

Hi, I've taken the TEAS twice. Only Pre's I have left are Micro and Human Growth and Development but I've decided to take those next summer ( the programs Ive choosen don't require completion before admission :yeah:). Are you applying for the spring?

Hey Brian! I am also taking A+P1 and Micro this semester, applying for Fall 2012 admission. I have one more semester of pre-reqs to finish up: A+P2 and Human Growth and Development. A little nervous because my target school doesn't require TEAS tests for admission [if you have other requirements completed], so I haven't signed up for the test yet [hoping to hear back from them in about a month or so]. What are else are you doing in the meantime, i.e. volunteering, etc.? I feel like I should probably be doing more... Good luck to you!

@petitepioneer- I'm taking the same prereqs next semester...we should stay in touch. Right now, I am applying for Job shadow programs and I'm also looking into some volunteer opportunities with some group homes in my area.

@eagle2010 I'm applying for the fall...i have one more semester of prereqs to go.

How many schools are you guys applying to??

Wow so am I! We should definitely stay in touch! I have my first shadow this Saturday at an intensive care nursery [wicked excited!] so we'll see how that goes, but so far, I've been too busy to apply for volunteering programs [i work FT]. I have my first tests in each class on Wednesday and Thursday, so hopefully after that, I'll be able to breathe a little more and volunteer.

How are you finding this semester thus far?

Welcome Brian! Im in the application process now. Ive completed all my Pre-req's and got my CNA license which is a requirement for nursing schools in Wisconsin. I complete my last step this Saturday when I take the NLN exam. If I score in the 70th percentile, Im in. Studying like crazy this week and will be glad when Saturday is over.:yeah:

Specializes in Pediatric Home Care, Dr Office/Clinic.

Hi! I'm just beginning my journey...I'm putting all my eggs into 1 basket and that's . Currently, I am gearing up for and planning out my prereq taking route. I'm planning on spending this year working on knocking out prereqs through CLEP, DSST, Straighterline and the Intregrated Science Program. I am so excited!

Do you guys have an idea of specialty you would like to go into? I'm sure I want Labor & Delivery Postpartum or to work in an OBGYN office/clinic :)

Pediatrics, Labor and Delivery. I wouldnt mind the ER either. As long as its not Adult Med/Surg. :lol2:

@petite----COOL!!! The Semester has been pretty cool so far. I had my first tests already. B so far in Anatomy and C in Microbiology. which is what i expected. I never can really study for a class unless i know how the teachers' tests are.

EVERYONE, glad everyone is journeying and posting!! there are so many specialties that interest me!! Really interested in NICU, Peds, and Labor and Delivery!! I wouldn't mind ER either, opportunity to work with more males there.

Hey Brian... I've finished my pre-reqs and applied for six...yes, six nursing schools for spring, 2012...3 ADN programs and 3 BSN programs in California. I've been accepted to one ADN prpgram and waiting to hear from the rest, but I'm excited that no matter what, I will be in nursing school next semester! Stay with it, and get A's in as many classes as you can, especially the sciences... study study study, and don't let anything deter you...

If you have any questions about the application process, I'd be glad to share with you.. I think I've become an expert at it by now..hahaha
