I'm going into nursing school in the fall...but how long if you are a nurse did it take u from first prerequisite to nursing graduation, if u r not a nurse how long have u been in school focused of nursing...I started in 08 Oh geez..and I get discouraged a lot because I have two childrenone 5 and one 2 and I feel like I'm deserting them:( but I definitely know me becoming a nurse is better for there future..also I have a every supportive husband..my cousin just became a nurse, she is 3 days older than I and we were close, but she started acting strange her second year, well around her graduation she good me I was never going to finish school and I was worthless..that brought me down but people change...I just want to know your struggles through nursing school and if you ever got discouraged??

I'm starting next month on my pre-req's at my community college and I also have a son who just turned one. You are deff right, that it is good for the childrens futures and great for yourself. Tell your cousing to kiss off and you WILL finish nursing school. You have a family to take care of and schoolwork to attend to. Sometimes it takes longer for others to finish, but you can and will. Dont worry about it. You have a great husband for support and thats all that matters. Good luck girly! xoxo

Always surround yourself with positive thinkers.Sometimes family can influence a negative outcome.I have 3 kids all under 8yrs old and also a supportive husband.I need 3 more classes and then the Hesi to get into nursing program.I got discouraged because it seemed it was a long way to go but I was so wrong.

Focus on your family. My kids have learned so much and that education is so important. You will inspire them to achieve their goals.

Best of luck.

I started pre-reqs back in '08 and had to take a lot due to being out of school for 11 years. I started the clinical portion of nursing classes in January 2011. I'm just finishing up my 2nd semester. I have 6 more semesters to go b/c I am in the part time program b/c I have four children - 13, 8, 6, and 5. I will not graduate until Summer 2013, but well worth the wait. My children's future is at stake here. I have a very supportive husband that helps me out tremendously. You are not deserting your children, even though sometimes it feels that way, this will make it better for them in the long run. My son said to me one day "mommy, why do you have to go to school all the time, just quit" That almost broke my heart, but somedays that are very proud of me. I think them seeing me study makes them want to do better in school as well. Kids don't really understand what it's all about but they will eventually. And don't worry about the negativity of your cousin, you can finish anything that you put your mind to as loong as you put in all the work that is required. It is a constant struggle for me but I try my hardest and try to keep my head held high (even after I get one bad test grade). You can do it!!!!

Thank you all for your support and it sounds like supportive husbands see a must

.Lol...I will surround myself with positive people and keep pushing forward!!

I'm married with two kiddos, I started back to school for nursing in Sept 2009 and I'm applying to NS in March 2012. It feels like it's taken forever but I'm bound and determined to get there. It's my dream and I know it's going to better my family in the long run. Don't let people get you down, you can do anything you put your mind to. Surround yourself with positive supportive people.
