i am embarrassed and need your help and support! i graduated from nursing school with a bsn 4 yrs ago. i have taken the test twice, failing both times. the first time was horrible but the second was borderline. the problem is i have been talking myself out of taking it for the past year! the last time i took the nclex was october 2006. i have been lucky and working in the medical field as a cna but would love to become an rn!!!! i am soo nervous and scared. i recently got married and have realized, with the support of my husband, i need to face this fear and conquer the test! any advice where to start? i feel lost...

The world needs good nurses. Don't let that stupid exam deter you. I know you can do it. Why don't you start with a study guide? Do all of the questions at the end of the chapters without reading the chapters. See how you score using what you think you know and your ability to think through the question. Then decide if you want to do a review course such as Kaplan. I have heard good things about Suzanne's Plan using Saunder's Comprehensive:

Good luck.

Before you do a thing, you need to check with your BON to see what their requirements are. Most require that you retest within two years of the last exam, but this is something that you need to check out first; or they require a full application again and not just a re-application.

I would do this first before proceeding with anything so you know where you stand with them and what needs to be done.

Best of luck to you, you can do it.

Just wanted to post and let you know that you are not alone at all. I graduated with my BSN in 04, and haven't passed my exam since. The last time I tested was Last august, I waited almost a year to re-test. I thought I was the only one who has been out of synch. Working in the hospital, you can get lost with time so easily, knowing that you ahve a higher degree than what you are doing. I just want you to keep your spirits up, this forum is very helpful and keeps one motivated every day, so hang in there....

Suzanne's plan is one review that you can try, at least for re-takers. It helps you get back in to gaining the content all over again. Since last august, it helped me learn all the new updated meds, chapter by chapter it is helpful, but first, I would take her advice to make sure you are updated with the BRN with your eligibility to test. If I don't pass this time around, I will not wait 11 months to test again....but I have true hopes to pass this time around!!!

Good luck to you...:heartbeat:heartbeat

i emailed my bon and am awaiting an answer as to what i need to do to be able to test again. i am interested in suzanne's plan but have a few questions. i try to send pm but it does not allow me access. do i have to pay for a special membership or something?

No you don't have to pay for premium membership. You just have to have 15 posts or more on allnurses.com to be able to PM another member.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

It is a new system and as mentioned you need 15 posts to be able to receive and send pm's. Discussion is here

The first tip of my program is posted at the top of this page and needs to be completed before one sends me a pm. So you have time to complete it as well as make posts herre on Allnurses.com.
