Hi Guys, starting this thread as I am planning to apply to Linfield for spring 2018 admission. I was wondering if anyone else is planning to apply and what your educational background is. I applied to OHSU accelerated bachelors program and was waitlisted and still have not heard of any movement on the list. I am wondering how competitive Linfield is- assuming just as competitive as any other nursing program in the area.

Hi Neilson94, I am also planning to apply to Linfield also. It will be my first time applying to any nursing school. I have heard it is very competive, they told me that a competive candidate must have at least 3.5 GPA of prereq to get accepted. Application essays also need to be strong, and medical experience will make your application looks good. However, I asked ___ at Linfield, she told me there won't be essay questions this year, that makes me confuse.

Hi everyone, this will be my first time to apply to any nursing school as well. Linfield is my first choice. I think nursing schools here in the Pacific Northwest is competitive, more than usual as compared to other states. I have been told experience in health care, volunteering, and good resume, essay letters, and references all count as well. I know several people that got 4.0's but never got in one program, so I guess it's the luck of the draw perhaps. As for my educational background I have a Bachelors as well and CNA training.

Hi everyone! I've also applied for the Spring 18 cohort. I've also talked with admissions about how competitive the program is and they noted that acceptance is generally based on your prerequisite GPA, overall science GPA, community/volunteer experience (of which I have very, very little), and letters of reference. Diversity also plays a role and I've read in other forums that it can be very helpful to have professional or educational experience abroad, however the admissions rep didn't mention this to me. I also had questions regarding the tremendous cost of attendance ($80,000+) and she mentioned that they try their absolute hardest to give every student some sort of scholarship (last year ranging from $4000-6000 per semester) as well as need-based grants, if available (around $500 or so). This was encouraging to hear because it's quite intimidating to think that you could come out of a program in so much debt!

So excited to hear more and my fingers are crossed to all that have/plan to apply!!

Also applying, I've heard it's less competitive than OHSU's acc program. If you got waitlisted for OHSU's acc you probably have a good chance though. Did ohsu give you feedback about how to improve your app?
