Life Point

Published

Our hospital was once owned by Province, however, recently the entire company was sold to Life Point. Management hasn't told us the first thing yet, we had to hear it from our local/gossip station, which we checked Life Points website where it mentioned the sale. I am curious to know what we can expect from this new company. If anyone has any information please let me know.

Sincerely,

left in the dark

I work in a Lifepoint facility in KY. They are for-profit facilities. As far as I can see, they have made positive changes for us since they took over the facility from HCA.

They tend to focus on smaller hospitals with plans to make them very good at the care they provide. We have carved a spot in our community (and the US) for providing care to bariatric patients (among top 10 in the country). We also have very active outpatient services, good ER, Women's Services, etc.

Since Lifepoint bought our facility, we've expanced, built all new OR/ICU, rennovated most everywhere else, built two new office buildings, incorporated a busy business health aspect of community care, gotten a free-standing radiation facility, etc.

I've been at the hosptial for almost 5 years and they were there approx. one year before I went there to work.

Their stock has consistently shown good profit margins. Look up LPNT in the market. My quarterly returns are much higher than one would expect overall.

Good luck,

Lisa

If Lifepoint bought your hospital - RUN FAR AND RUN FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This hospital bought our 300 bed hospital with an openheart (Duke affiliated)

and a 20 bed CVICU - they have destroyed the morale, the work environment, the management , the city attitude towards the care offered,

the surrounding medical communities opinion of the hospital, the patient care has gown down due to: reduction in staffing , lack of needed supplies, limits of time spent on CVICU patients etc..

The management and disorganization of this hospital is disgraceful.

We are being told that "they" want us to become a " glorified stepdown unit"

with no high risk patients, or drugs , or surgeries. The RN- patient ratio in our ICU is becoming extremely dangerous......Stay away from this hospital..........................................

I hear ya, things sure are different now. :(

Only problem is, unless you want to work in a nursing home, there isn't any where else to work, unless you feel like driving 3+ hours a day on top of your 12 hour work day. (which nowdays with the take over is more like 15 hour days)

And don't think you don't get chewed out for working OT, like we choose to be away from our homes and family!

I once worked for Lifepoint, only 1 month. I quit b/c of the nurse pt. ratio and a bunch of other mess that happened after being sold, I have worked to hard for my nsg.lic. and am not going to put myself in a situation I know is wrong. I do not believe LifePoint has helped our community any, just hurt it and I am from the 300 bed hospital also.
