Those of you who transferred licenses to another state AFTER receiving criminal charges and/or disciplinary action by the board of nursing (that stayed on your license)- how long did it take to be approved or denied after submitting your application. The BON site says it can take 3 months or longer for review but Im looking to see what everyones experience has been.

Do you mean after you completely completed your probation in the one state? Because if that is the case I would like to know other's experiences transferring as well.

I moved twice after my original suspension. It was tedious getting into the diversion program, and when I moved to FL, I actually had to appear before the board, which was pretty humiliating. It took 3 months for the first move, and almost 6 months to get my license in FL. I'm 15 years out from all that now, thank goodness. However, keep in mind, if you were suspended, it lives on NURSYS forever. It will ALWAYS be a hassle to get a license. My suggestion? Move to a compact state. Once you have that, lots of doors open. Another tip? Make sure you keep copies of everything, better yet, scan them into the cloud. You will have to produce contracts, completion letters, etc, for the rest of your working life.
Okay, So I have been approved by my new board, which took 3 weeks, much faster than I had anticipated, although I had all my paperwork in order so Im sure that helped. They have offered me a choice between 4 years of probation or a 5 year entry into their monitoring program. I am 2 years into my 5 year agreement in my original state and have completed everything necessary except for my drugscreens (my only current requirement)- I will still need to finish this agreement out regardless of what I pick. The state forgot to include the details of each so Ill need to call on Monday and get the specifics but Im leaning towards the probation. I already have probation on my license from my original state that will NOT be removed with completion so Im not sure I see a huge benefit with entering the monitoring program. IN fact, although I need to verify its likely I would need to start all over again from the beginning and Im not sure that's something I am willing to put my family though again...any thoughts anyone?

I tried to transfer my texas to louisiana and louisiana stated that the license had to be clear of all stips before i could get a Louisiana license..
I took the monitoring. All told, with the moves, I did 7 years. Yep, 7. Worth it. SO worth it. My group got me through a lot of tough times. IMO, it's one thing to have one probation that you worked through in monitoring, but two (and one of them 4 years long) may not be something you want to have to explain to an employer.
