Licensure application for VT

Published

Vermont state board posted on their website that it will take 3-4 months for foreign nurses to sit for the exam. my application was received on nov.1 2006 and I'm still waiting for approval till now, however my friend who passed her application in the same board last december got her approval to sit for the exam on 1st week of feb. Now I am wondering whats wrong with my application. My friend is a CGFNS passer and I am not, does it make a difference? Thanks.

I applied through Vermont also and waited almost a year (six days short!) before getting approval.

My problem was not with the board itself (they're really really helpful at Vermont) but with my school back in the UK.

It's worth checking what's going on with your school/transcripts because that's where all my problems came from.

I had a long time waiting too. I applied last June and got my exam approved sometime in October. My friends received theirs earlier than I. I guess that was because my personal application and payment was sent later than my school documents and docus from the PRC.

Thread moved to International Forum as it has to do strictly with foreign trained nurse issues as well as it is for the licensure application.

You are applying for licensure as an RN in the US, the NCLEX exam is the final step in the process, not the only one. Vermont is currently taking three to four months before they will permit you to write the exam. And that is when they have a completed file on you, dependent on when your school submits your transcripts to them, etc. It is not based on just when you sent your application to them.

VT will be evaluating your credentials to see if you meet their requirements. Each file is handled individually, and by a human. Some will take longer, and some will be shorter.

Hi!! Mine took only 2 months and I'm not a CGFNS passer. Just like what Suzanne said, it not only depends on when you passed your application but also depends on your other supporting documents too. It takes longer now because of the increasing applications they are receiving from foreign educated nurses, plus they do their own credentials evaluation. You can always email them, if you want to inquire about your application. They usually reply within 24 hours, oftentimes, less than that.

thank you suzanne and to all who replied to my post, i'm going to email the board to find out what's happening.

may i know the email adress & to whom shall i adress my email in vermont?

Title of thread altered as there is no such thing as an application for the NCLEX exam, it is for licensure and requires and then approval must be obtained to sit for the exam.

Thread closed since more than a year old and newer threads are available for working there including the newer requirements. Suggest that you have a look at those before contacting them, more than likely, you will find your answer there.
