Licenses

So I am looking into maybe getting my New York license and Mass license. I have my home state (which is a compact ) and I also have my California license. For Mass it states all licenses need to be verified. California does not take part in NURSYS and is super slow and $100 a pop!! Do you really have to have verification from other states that are not your main home license? I still practice in my home state and my license is active there.

What are your thoughts on this??? Some people have said to just submit your home information as long as it's active.

Thanks in advance for your input!!

Nope. States that require verification of every license ever held mean it. Ignore that and risk all of you licenses.

My thoughts exactly. It is a pain in the @$$ but I worked hard for mine and won't do anything to jeopardize it. Thanks NedRN!

That is one of the main reasons I have never been interested in a California license! I have heard horror stories of the BON taking over 6 months to verify a license! Good luck...too bad they can't get on board with nursys!

If you arent using then put it in an inactive status. As far as i know you only have to verify active licenses. When you want to get back to California reactivate the license, im told it is very quick.

Double check if they need all or just active licenses though.

It is fast to reactivate a CA license. But yes, MA does require all licenses ever held to be verified, active or not, as does NY. Some nurses in the past have gotten away not putting some BONs on their application, but I doubt that is possible anymore.
