Hi Nurses,

I hope some of you may be able to help me with this question.

I dont have any one else to ask, because apparently the people i am around never move out of their comfort zone.

I need some help understanding how having multiple licenses in different states work. Any examples of how you managed to have multiple licenses would really help.

thanks,

Diana

You apply for 'licensure by endorsement' to the board of nursing of the state(s) where you wish to be licensed. For example, if you want to be licensed in Arizona, Oregon, and Washington, you will need to apply for licensure by endorsement for all three states. Each state's board of nursing has a website where you can download the applications and follow the directions.

Some people will mention that a compact license allows you to work in multiple other states that are part of the Nurse Licensure Compact.

I have two nursing licenses in 2 different states.Commuter explains it well :) You also need to keep up with the educational requirements to maintain the licenses.I know with 2 it can be overwhelming. Each state requires different things.Best thing to do is call the board of nursing in the state(s) you want to apply to.Best wishes to you!

HELLO!...I have licenses in two different states. Alabama and Georgia. Alabama requires 24 CEU's every 2yrs for license renewal and for Georgia where I lived, I ONLY have to pay a renewal fee of $85.00 every 2yrs. My understanding is there is no limit on the number of licenses a nurse could hold at one time, as long as he/she does what each states requires. GOOD LUCK!
