I have been accepted into the 2016 spring quarter nursing Lake Washington Technical program. I want to write about how I got into the program to inform future students. At first, I wasn't going to apply because my Teas test wasn't great (Average 70). I have a GPA of 3.8, 8 years working in the mental health field, and I have a BA in Psychology. I guess even with not such a competitive Teas score I was accepted. I hope this information helps other students. Good Luck. Feel free to reach out. Nicole

Congrats on your acceptance! I was wondering what made you apply to the LWTC program. I've heard mixed reviews and curious if I should give it a second look as I am looking at UW and Bellevue.
Hello,
I'm almost done with my 1st quarter ( I can't believe it). I applied to UW twice and was rejected both times. I decided to try LWTC and got in. I really love the program it has been a great experience so far. Also, we are officially accredited-YEAH! The teachers are great and really want you to succeed. I recommend applying to as many nursing programs because it really is competitive (it took me 2 1/2 years to finally get into a program). Also, keep in mind that you can do a bridge program from LWTC to UW Bothell for the BSN…. Plus, I believe LWTC is working on their own BSN program. Hopefully, before I graduate :).
If you have any more questions let me know!
Good luck
Nicole
Nicole,
Thanks for the reply,
I've been researching and reading how long it takes to get into some of the programs because they are so competitive. For Bellevue and LWTC I will have to re-take my basic science (chemistry and microbiology) courses due to fact it's been over 7 years ago. I know I can get those done in matter of a year. I can apply to UW for the Accelerated and the BSN program in the meantime while working on the science courses. I just need to work on volunteer hours. It's crazy to be starting over again. (I finished school including a grad degree, worked for several years and now considering going back to do something else.)

Hey,
I didn't have any volunteer hours-just a lot of experience working in the medical field (maybe that was the reason that I didn't get into UW). Also, keep in mind microbiology you can take during the program at LWTC (you will need to just have it completed by 4th quarter). Some of my cohort will complete it during the summer. I also understand the feeling of starting over again (I have a BA and it is useless). Plus, believe it or not most of my cohort seems to be starting over. Some were teachers, EMT's, and Computer science people (Boeing). It's ok to start over because now I am doing something I really enjoy :)
Good luck,

I will be applying to the Fall 2016 cohort at Lake Washington.
LWTech seems to be one of the only programs that takes your work experience into consideration. I have been an NAC for going on 14 yrs, I have a good GPA and scored in the 80s on my TEAS...but I can't seem to get in anywhere. I really hope that Lake Washington is my ticket!!! :)
Nice teas score! My advice to you is apply to as many schools as you can. LWTC is a great choice and it looks like you have great scores and a good GPA. Take your time with the admissions paper work and get everything proof read before turning it in.
Good Luck,
Binxie
Hey there! Just curious on Lake Washington's program. Is it 5 days a week? How many days do you meet in class vs clinicals? And what sites do you have to choose from?

Hey Ash_mt! I applied for Fall also. :) Have you heard anything from them yet? I am really hoping that I have enough points to get in!
Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I have been out of the country for a month. It depends on the quarter. My 1st quarter was 4 days a week in class and the last week of the quarter was clinicals- 2nd quarter is 2 class days and 2 clinical days. The sites for first quarter were Emerald heights, Ballard and Lifecare (you don't get to chose your site it is based off your last name for the first 2 quarters) 3rd quarter we have clinicals sites at Overlake and Fairfax. I believe 5-6 quarter you get to chose your site. However, I am only beginning my second quarter and will update this blog as time goes on.
I hope you all get in...Good luck :)

Hi Nicole,
I applied for the Fall 2016 application period and unfortunately didn't get in. However, I reapplied a few weeks ago and hear back November 14th! (Fingers crossed!!!) my GPA is a 3.2 and I scored an 84 on my Teas. I also get extra points for having an AA. I noticed last time that I was docked points on my essay, so I wrote a new essay and had many people edit it for clarity, content, etc. my question to you is; what was your essay like? How did you do points wise? I want to get in so badly and gave this application for winter 2017 everything I have.
