lack of exposure...

I am just sharing my experience in handling students in ICU, We have only 4 days for the whole exposure and students are not allowed to handle patients..:uhoh3:.they only absorb what I am teaching like lectures, reporting and teaching about machines, etc...I am worried because they were very smart, very responsible students, much better if they can handle patients so that they can apply those mind boggling theories and nursing interventions...exposure is a must but we cannot handle cases,:angryfire we only stayed at ICU for lectures..:crying2:.Whats the use?:o?? need advice/tips..thank you..

Is this "no hands on" a policy of the hospital?

The more senses the students use (including "touch"), the more they will learn.
