i know this happened to you.....

ok, how many of u had someone call u "Doc"? u proceed to tell them u are a nurse, they look at u and say "oh" with a degrading attitude.......or they tell u they think it is great u are a nurse and give u high respect.

this morning on my way to work i stopped to get $25 of gas, stepped out of my truck to get a cup of coffee inside, the attendant saw me in my scrubs and said "good morning Doc"....i replied "if i was a Doc i would be able to afford to tell u to 'fill-er-up', not just give me $25 worth!! several people heard me say that and they got a nice early morning laugh.

BTW, a Navy Corpsman is referred to as Doc, and they are not MDs, or RNs. You might want to take it as a compliment.

I get called Doc all the time.......as an NP, I dont wear a uniform and I'm always saying 'I'm a nurse'

you get used to it!

suppose it might help if my name badge actually said 'nurse practitioner'.........it just has a picture of winnie the pooh and my name.. Karen.

I'm a nursing student, and am in a sort of funny position... people call me Doc, but that's OK since I actually AM a Doc: been a practicing Podiatrist for over 28 years, but I'm going to night school for my RN (running a solo practice is nothing but aggravation these days!).

Was in court today and a guy actually looked at me (was in scrubs. Didn't have time to change  ) and goes "Nurse?"

I was pleasantly surprised - cuz poeple usually assume I'm the "Doc" :)

Turns out his sister's a nurse.

Did you look like his sister in scrubs? ;)

I'm not sure - unless his sister is of mixed race! :chuckle

You still have not replied to my last PM sent?

Hey,

I just smile at them and say, "nope-I work for a living, I'm a NURSE"

Yes they are. Sometimes in combat they're the only Doc you may have.

God bless you, Daddy. :flowersfo :biere:
