Kaplans ADN program ???

U.S.A. Nevada

Anyone in the Las Vegas Area doing Kaplans ADN program? I am in the process of applying and id love to get some input form past or current students..

Sarah,

I have been to many of the board nursing meetings and I have to say Kaplan is an exceptional program. Kaplan has a strong nursing administration team. They are new and and not yet accredited so you take some risk in going to that program, but given the success of their LPN program I would say the risk is minimal.

When you look at the two programs in Nevada that have failed (Carrington and National) and the one that is failing (Touro) they all had one thing in common and that is a weak administration team. Starting a nursing program is not for someone who has not ran a program and Kaplan hired some of the best people in the country to run their nursing school. I have little doubt that they will be very successful.

FYI Kapaln, while currently accredited, probably wont be for long, I currently work at St. Mary's and I was told that they DO NOT hire Kaplan graduates and I know for a fact the Renown doesn't either. might want to consider these things when going to a place like this

i highly doubt that. i know st. mary's hired at least one of carrington's las vegas students, and that school never gained accreditation.

what makes you say kaplan's adn program will not gain accreditation? the have not even graduated their first cohort yet.

i have been to most of the board of nursing meetings for the last couple of years. kaplan's lpn program flew through accreditation with impressive results. further, kaplan has one of the strongest administrative teams i have ever seen. i have zero doubt kaplan will gain full board approval well with in the allowed two year window.

whats the entrance exam that you must take? hesi or teas? im in fresno ca but will be relocating to LV. i went to kaplan college here for medical assisting and loved it, im only assuming it will be same in LV. would anyone know the prereqs that is required for the RN program?? thanks a lot!!

I had looked into this program prior into getting into the bridge at CSN, if i had not gotten in i wouldve went this route the only downside is the cost of the program but Kaplan is a solid proven program all over the country plus there LPN program here in nevada is solid as well

Im wondering when Kaplan's first cohort students will be done, or take the NCLEX. And furthermore, don't the 1st class NCLEX scores determine if the school will get their accreditation?

Related question: Lets say that first cohort class graduates, they all pass the NCLEX, and all get their RN licensse. THEN, Kaplan gets their accreditation. What kind of impact does that have on that first cohort class? I've been told that because that first class was licensed AFTER Kaplan officially got their accreditation, that they will forever be graduates of an un-accreditated program. Which would make ineligible for certain government jobs, BSN program considerations, etc....?

They are going to be done this month. I saw them the other day in class preparing for the NCLEX exam. I'm not sure if its the first class or if they wait for a couple of more classes to graduate. Either way I hope they all do well.

This is all really great advice. I have my first visit to Kaplan this Thursday!

So I'm assuming you're wanting to go for nursing yadomaru?? If so, are you going for lpn or adn?
