Kaplan LVN ?

I was just wondering how easy it was for those of you who graduated from Kaplan, to get a job as a LVN. I was trying to go straight BSN route, but I know my GPA isn't going to be good enough, considering you basically need a 4.0 to get into any BSN program these days. I am really considering just going LVN, and then doing a LVN to BSN route. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I'm not a graduated of Kaplan but I'm attending Carrington next month and feel the same way you do, why not just go for the LVN program and then take an RN bridge. It's really hard nowadays to get into a BSN program and I don't want to waste extra time.

exactly!!! I want the shortest way possible, I don't want to keep applying to BSN programs until lord knows when. If you don't mind me asking where is Carrington, and how much is that LVN program?

Just wanted to pop on to this thread and say hi! I took kaplans entrance exam on sept 13! I too have been taking prereqs to get into a BSN program, but would like to get my VN license so I can work sooner and then bridge.

Well it depends on where you live, I'm going to the Sacramento campus. They have a few campuses in California, just google carrington college California. It's almost 40k so it's pricey but once u become an LVN they have an RN program that's 8 months long. But if you figure college cost at least 20k a yr and the LVN program is 16 months so it's fast paced but not to fast where your hella stressed and taking a quiz or test every day. I talked to an RN student there who also got his LVN license through them and he said that the hardest part was the 2nd term, because you got pharm and medsurg. He also said that the classes are smaller so you get more one on one time with the teachers. He said that the NCLEX prep class really helped because the teacher tells you exactly how everything is.

In L.A. Kapln offers only LVN , I was so dissapointed when they told me that they offer RN program where else ,cuz my plan was to take an lvn and then bridge, but I wanted to do both in L.A. I cant commute to Sacramento

I'm starting Kaplan next week, essentially for the same reasons as posted above: time constraints and the awful wait with regard to application cycles. I'm cautiously optimistic about the program, but am committed to the process!

I just graduated Kaplan in June. I moved a few months later, and I have a job in my new state. It was the best decision I made to go ahead with LVN school because of the wait to get into the RN programs in that area. If I hadn't, I'd still be waiting. Now, I'm making money as a nurse, and I've already started a program to bridge to RN.

Armoursmommy- I'm at the Sacramento Campus. I just finished the first week and am having a very good experience so far. The staff members are very professional and helpful, the teachers have been sweet, the director has led some very informative lectures.

The program incorporates the prereqs, costs less than Carrington and is 51 wks long.

Oh that's so good to hear! I'm just waiting for my husband's GI bill to transfer so hopefully I can start in January. I'm been trying to go to Kaplan forever but something always forces me to push it back. Could you contact me? I have many questions and really like insight from a student.
