Kaplan, Hurst or UWorld

I think people like uworld because it's formatted to look identical to the nclex screens. Additionally, knowing that you're not alone in missing most of the questions males people feel good.

But it shouldn't. Uworld costs quite a bit, and they do not vett the questions/answers. There are over a hundred bad questions with incorrect answer options. More with incorrect information in the question. And nearly half of the entire 1980 question bank are repeated questions with different rationales. It's fairly horror show.

But, as a way to study rationales quickly and maybe (maybe) more in detail than, say, Saunders online (which is superior), it works.

Dont go into uworld thinking you need to get questions correct. Be sure to mark the more interesting or esoteric questions for future review, and know that it's a common, known, problem with rationales contradicting answer options.

That said, if you have your Kaplan review book, use that and Saunders online. I'd not, try uworld, but go in with eyes open.

^ I don't believe the post above indicating that UWorld has "over a hundred bad questions with incorrect answer options." Nor was that half of the question bank are repeated questions.... absolutely untrue.

I've used Uworld myself and it is a quality question bank and I am confident in saying so. I also used Saunders Comprehensive Review, but the questions provided are not NCLEX styled questions because they test you on the content of the chapters. I highly recommend Saunders for content review but not solely for the questions.

100% agree, unworld is fantastic. The questions are much harder than any others, it looks exactly like the NCLEX and has excellent rationales. I used Saunders for content review and did a few questions for Kaplan but uworld was my main focus. I passed NCLEX with 75 questions in 40 minutes.

Do you have a link or at least examples to support this? I've been using Uworld and have yet to come across rationales and answers that didn't line up. There have been a few times I've questioned the rationales, but after looking it up, I realized that Uworld was correct.

I used Kaplan. Our school required us to have Kaplan throughout our program. We only used it once per semester to use as an indicator of how we would do on our final exams.

After graduation we had a five day on-campus NCLEX Kaplan review workshop. I did all of the question trainers #1-7 and the two indicator tests. I just passed NCLEX two days ago with 75 questions.

My issue with Kaplan is sometimes the rationales were not helpful. "Not an appropriate response" is not an adequate rationale to me. The "look" and the "feel" of using Kaplan was very similar to NCLEX. The SATA questions were very difficult, both on Kaplan and NCLEX. The decision tree, prioritization and delegation tips through Kaplan were very helpful. Kaplan also focused on the medications we were likely to see on NCLEX, and I liked the repetition of the medications throughout all the practice tests. Taking the practice tests was not easy, and I suggest that they are not done at home where one may get easily distracted. Go to a coffee shop or a library. I usually could not do more than 10 questions at a time.

Oh, I also wish that we could see the answers/rationales to the questions immediately after we answered them. It took a long time to get through a test in order to see the results and review the rationales. However, it was a good motivator to finish the practice test!
