Kaplan Decision Tree Effective?

Published

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this was previously discussed or not, but today was day 1 of my Kaplan review course. Even though the instructor explained how to use the decision tree and it seemed to work with the sample questions, i feel like it will throw me off when i try to use it...idk. To all those who used Kaplan, is it absolutely necessary to use the decision tree method to tackle questions?

I used the decision tree off and on. If I saw a question and wasn't sure what I needed to do I would lightly go through it, but it seems 90% of the questions it couldn't be used anyways.

I say learn what you can using it in class then try it out with Qbank and the trainers and if it works for you, then use it... it didn't work so well with me in my opinion (but I passed NCLEX)

I think it works at the beginning. It's a good way to get used to answering questions. However, as you get into the harder questions and higher up on Bloom's taxonomy (analysis and application questions - i.e. the questions that are above the passing line on NCLEX) the decision tree is not very effective, but by then you've already learned how to answer the questions by yourself and you won't need the decision tree!

Ohh ok I see thanks for clearing that up.
