Kaplan advise please

Published

I am trying to decide whether to sign up for the online Kaplan review.

I would like to take the NCLEX at the end of June. Is 3 weeks long

enough to make use of the Kaplan review? I have several other books

but I am having a hard time staying focused.

Thanks

I did Kaplan in its entirety in just over three weeks total. This included 4 days of online classroom review (6 hours per day), Diagnostic exam, Readiness exam, Qtrainers 1-7, 3 NCLEX practice tests, and 85% of the Qbank questions. I believe in total I did ~2150 practice questions from Kaplan. You should have a fairly good knowledge of conceptual material before you do Kaplan, as their questions really focus on the strategy instead of the content. Overall a great resource though.

You'd be looking at 150-200 questions/day, which is a good level to be practicing at.

kaplan has questions very similar to nclex but i believe hurst condenses the material better...and you can find kaplan questions online for free...just not as many as you get with the course

NCSBN has good questions also....ive actually heard that some people got a few identical questions on nclex that they saw on NCSBN review course

I think you might want a little more time for the course to "sink" in.

I think 3 weeks is enough to prepare.

I used Kaplan's questions and Saunders' content to pass it. Study you weak areas on a good content book; Kaplan if you like it. Then do Kaplan's questions.

I did sign up for Kaplan on 6/10 after I picked my test date of July 1.

I had always heard that Kaplan was about strategies and the lessons are, but to my surprise -

very pleasant surprise - there are videos that go over each of the areas as well. I have

done the diagnostics and the Qtrainers through 6 and have been in the 60s. The videos have touched

on everything - its like having nursing school shoved into 21 hours of video review. Qbank is also

a nice resource.

3 weeks is alittle tight to be working through the entire Kaplan program but I feel like I am progressing

and things are good.

Thanks for the responses.
